Released back in November, the OnePlus X is considered to be one of the better options if you are looking to buy a phone that will not break the bank. However, there seems to be confusion as to whether OnePlus’ budget phone is being phased out or not.
If you go to the company’s website, you will notice that both color options for the OnePlus X are currently out of stock. And as it happens, both options have been mostly out of stock for a handful of months. Now, in an email sent to those trying to buy the phone, OnePlus has revealed that its budget phone will remain out of stock for the foreseeable future.
“We regret to inform you that the OnePlus X you ordered is out of stock at the moment and there is no plan for replenishment,” reads the email posted on OnePlus’ forums. OnePlus also said it will refund cancelled orders and throw in a $10 coupon code with free standard shipping for those who tried to buy the phone.
Weirdly enough, however, a OnePlus forum member contacted the company and was told the OnePlus X will not be discontinued and that stock will be replenished sometime soon, though OnePlus did not say when that will be.
“Yes, the OnePlus X will still be restocked since our management hasn’t announced yet that it would be phased-out,” reads the statement. “So rest assured it will still get back on stock.”
According to Android Authority, OnePlus says the company will have limited stock of the OnePlus X Ceramic and Onyx over the next few months, but the OnePlus X Champagne has already sold out and won’t be replenished.
“Stay tuned to our forums for updates, and rest assured that we will continue supporting the OnePlus X as we do all of our other phones,” the company said.
Even though the OnePlus X is one of the more popular budget phones around, it has also proven to be a polarizing device. For example, the device included features not normally seen in a phone that costs less than $300, such as a 1080p display and an aluminum border keeping the two sides of glass together. At the same time, the phone did not include NFC and lacked important U.S. LTE bands, making the OnePlus X difficult to recommend to U.S. residents.
