Truly getting fit and staying fit requires a multipronged approach. Not only is it important to be active, it’s also important to eat healthy, get enough sleep, and so on. Simply getting a fitness tracker may not be enough to ensure that you’re staying healthy.

Styr Labs is hoping to make the process of getting fit a lot easier, and has announced an ecosystem of products to help you do so, the latest of which is a new smart water bottle. The lineup not only includes a fitness tracker, but also a wireless scale to help you track your weight, an app to bring that information together, and a way to purchase multivitamins to complement your diet.

As mentioned, the latest product in the lineup is the smart water bottle, which allows you to track the amount of water that you drink throughout the day. The bottle will also give you visual and vibration reminders when needed, letting you know that it’s time to take a drink and rehydrate.

Next up, the fitness tracker. The device is simply called the Styr Activity + Nutrition Tracker, and it tracks steps, calories, and distance throughout the day. With all that tracking, you might think that it would have a low battery life, but according to Styr, it actually lasts four weeks on a single charge. It doesn’t seem as though the device tracks heart rate, which would have been a nice addition, so that’s something to keep in mind.

The wireless scale is also an important part of the system. The device is pretty sleek, and tracks not only your weight, but also your body fat, BMI, bone mass, and water content, all of which is sent to the app.

Speaking of the app, the data collected from the scale and fitness tracker will go into creating custom multivitamins and protein packets, helping you create the right diet to complement your fitness routine. These can be purchased directly through the app, which makes it supereasy to manage your diet. The app is compatible with both Android and iOS, and connects to devices through Bluetooth LE, which helps ensure that it doesn’t draw too much power. It’s also important to note that while the company would like you to use its own fitness tracker, you can actually use others with the app as well.

“Consumers want meaningful and validated data they can easily digest and interpret in ways that are personally meaningful to them,” Styr Labs Chief Operations Officer Paul Mackay said in a statement. “We believe natural single-serve vitamins and protein blends that are personalized to you are what the body needs to fuel a healthy lifestyle change or improve athletic performance.”

It’s certainly an interesting concept to have an entire fitness-based ecosystem. There are plenty of fitness trackers out there, but sometimes that’s just not enough to help people get healthy, so it’s nice to see something that goes a step further.

No matter your sport of choice or personal goals, there's a deep rabbit hole you can go down. It'll cost plenty of money, but the gains can be marginal -- and can honestly just be a distraction from what you should actually be focused on. Running is certainly susceptible to this.

A few months ago, I ran my first-ever marathon. It was an incredible accomplishment I had no idea I'd ever be able to reach, and it's now going to be the first of many I run in my lifetime. And despite my deep-rooted history in tech, and the endless opportunities for being baited into gearing myself up with every last product to help me get through the marathon, I went with a rather simple approach.
