Sony Pictures and Screen Gems have released the first teaser trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the aptly named concluding chapter in the six-film franchise based on the Capcom survival-horror video games.
Set to a backdrop of Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City,” the teaser trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter features the return of franchise star Milla Jovovich as Alice, the series’ superpowered protagonist.
The film is expected to pick up immediately after the events of 2012’s Resident Evil: Retribution, with Alice once again battling the sinister Umbrella Corporation in order to prevent the extinction of humanity. This time around, however, she must return to the place where the series began: the underground facility known as “The Hive” in Raccoon City.
Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who directed the first Resident Evil and the last two installments before The Final Chapter, the film also features returning cast members Ali Larter (Heroes) as Claire Redfield, Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, and Shawn Roberts (Edge of Darkness) as Albert Wesker. Newcomers to the franchise include Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black) as Abigail, Eoin Macken (The Night Shift) as Doc, William Levy (Dancing with the Stars) as Christian, Fraser James (Law & Order: UK) as Michael, and Japanese model and TV personality Rola as Cobalt.
The Resident Evil franchise has earned more than $915.9 million worldwide.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is scheduled to hit theaters January 27, 2017, in the U.S.
Along with the trailer for the domestic release, Screen Gems also released an international trailer for the film, which you can watch below.
