We already know that next year’s Transformers: The Last Knight is set to bring back a fan-favorite character who hasn’t yet appeared in Michael Bay’s live-action take on the classic 1980s animated series. However, there’s now word that an existing character is set to undergo a few changes ahead of the upcoming sequel.

The official Instagram account for the Transformers movie franchise has shared new images of Hound, an Autobot introduced in 2014’s Age of Extinction that was loosely based on a Generation 1 character. Hound’s role among the heroic Autobots has changed somewhat, according to a report from Transformers fansite Seibertron.

Previously, Hound was known as a trigger-happy commando, with his zest for combat reflected by his military-themed appearance. By the time The Last Knight gets underway, he’ll apparently be acting as field medic for the Autobots, with Red Cross emblems littered across his body.

That’s not the only big change that’s being made to the Hound character. While in the previous film he was an Oshkosh tactical defense vehicle, he’ll take the form of a Mercedes-Benz Unimog for his appearance in The Last Knight, as per information from Comicbook.com.

Transformers fans will realize that Hound’s new responsibilities come as a direct result of the events of Age of Extinction. The Autobots’ former medical officer, Ratchet, was killed by Lockdown and special forces from the CIA, providing an opening that has now been filled by the military machine.

Hound was voiced by John Goodman in Age of Extinction, but there’s currently no confirmation that the actor will return to the role for the upcoming sequel. Transformers: The Last Knight stars Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner, and Tyrese Gibson, and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
