There are plenty of benefits to being a member on a T-Mobile plan, especially when it comes to traveling abroad. For example, you’ll get unlimited high-speed data in Europe, a big deal for those of us that like to travel a lot. Now, however, you can add Singapore to the list of countries to visit as a T-Mobile subscriber.
Starting today, if you visit Singapore as a T-Mobile subscriber, you’ll get access to hundreds of Wi-Fi hotspots around the country for free, for a limited time.
The Wi-Fi network in Singapore that T-Mobile subscribers will get access to is called Wireless@SG, and subscribers will get access to the network from now until September 21. There are approximately 290 hotspots around the country, including hotspots found in train stations and resorts.
If you’re a T-Mobile customer in Singapore and you want to take advantage of the deal, you will need to go through a quick sign-up process, which involves verifying the SIM card that you’re using. You’ll then automatically connect to Wireless@SG hotspots when they’re available.
While T-Mobile subscribers get to benefit from free Wi-Fi access, the deal is actually part of a trial being put on by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. Sure, most of us won’t be able to take advantage of it, however it’s a bit of good news for those that already have a trip to Singapore planned in the next month and happen to be customers of T-Mobile. The deal is also part of the Wireless Broadband Alliance City Wi-Fi Roaming Project, which also allows citizens of Singapore to access free public Wi-Fi in cities like San Jose and San Francisco.
Hopefully things like this will continue to pop up, allowing us to continuously have access to the information we need no matter where we travel.
