Apple’s 2016 MacBook Pro models with the new Touch Bar OLED input display that replaces old-school function keys has been a resounding sales success so far. The new machine has outsold many notebooks in only its first few weeks of availability, and supply is only starting to catch up with the significant demand.
In fact, it was only a few days ago that Apple started prepping machines for shipment, and just yesterday that some early buyers reported receiving their new MacBook Pros. Now, it appears that some Apple Stores actually have stock on hand of the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, although availability is sketchy, as MacRumors reports.
One of the first people to walk into their local Apple Store and pick up a new MacBook Pro was in La Brea, California. The information comes via Reddit where other Apple Stores are popping up with the machines in stock. Those are almost exclusively located in California, specifically the cities of Rancho Cucamonga, Fairview, Emeryville, and Walnut Creek. One lucky Reddit poster did report picking up a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar from the Soho Apple Store in New York City, and a MacRumors reader reported one purchased in New Jersey.
Although those lucky few seem to indicate a very small number of Apple Stores with stock today, things could change considerably tomorrow — many people have reported that they’ve been told that machines will be available. That’s not a ubiquitous situation, however, as a number of people have also apparently been told not to expect machines before Thanksgiving.
If your local Apple Store won’t have stock of the machines, you’ll at least be able to get your hands on a demo model. Apple Stores should have those to take a look at this week. If you’re looking to walk into an Apple Store and get your new 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, you’ll need to stop by an Apple Store or give one a call to see if they have any units in stock, because Apple is not providing the usual in-store pickup option for online orders.
