Play ‘Dishonored 2’ your way with upcoming ‘New Game +’ mode

Dishonored 2 – Play Your Way
If you’re like us, there’s a good chance you’ve already finished Dishonored 2 and are playing through the game again with a different character. However, at release, the game didn’t offer a “New Game +” mode to allow players to run through the entire game with their upgraded powers and abilities. Bethesda has announced that this criticism will soon be addressed in an update.

“New month, Dishonored 2 will offer even more options to play your way,” said Bethesda global content lead Gary Steinman. “In a free update, Dishonored 2 will include a New Game + mode and new custom difficulty settings. We’ll have more details on the content of this update (including the exact release date) in the coming weeks.”

The addition of a New Game + mode is especially welcome in Dishonored 2 because the early levels of the game aren’t “tutorial” or dumbed-down sections. Instead, they’re just as difficult as the rest of the game, with extremely vigilant guards, tons of traps, and enough bloodflies to make your skin crawl. Without powers like “bend time” or Emily Kaldwin’s “domino,” the first few hours of the game are significantly more frustrating than the remainder.

Though Bethesda didn’t elaborate on what “custom difficulty settings” will be implemented, we’re guessing that they’ll be related to alternate play-styles. Increasing the combat effectiveness of enemy guards could lend itself to a more interesting “high chaos” run, while stealthier players could decrease the time it takes to get detected.

A new development diary video was also released with the announcement, showing off the games’ various play-styles, include the “no powers” approach for masochists who have a few hundred hours to kill. The level designers created obstacles that are completely conquerable without any supernatural abilities.

Dishonored 2 is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The best PlayStation 5 games of 2024: Astro Bot, Helldivers 2, and more
Best PS5 Games of 2024

For the first time in the PlayStation 5's lifespan, Sony couldn't rely on surefire bets from beloved series like God of War or Marvel's Spider-Man to keep players invested throughout 2024. It was up to lesser-known PlayStation franchises and third-party developers to craft the brunt of Sony's 2024 exclusive.

2024 wasn't all smooth sailing for Sony due to the failure of Concord. Thankfully, there were plenty of bright spots as underrated PlayStation series came into their own, and companies like Konami and Square Enix delivered much-needed console exclusives. Astro Bot has cemented itself as PlayStation's latest mascot, and Helldivers is a top-tier live service IP. On PS5 only, we saw games like Final Fantasy VII and Silent Hill 2 reimagined for a new generation. Plus, PlayStation also decided to introduce Horizon to a younger demographic of gamers and incubate some potential new series with Shift Up and Team Ninja.

Path of Exile 2 bugs making you feel exiled? Fixes are on the way
A barbarian character in Path of Exile 2.

The highly-anticipated Path of Exile 2 officially launched yesterday to early access for sponsors. If you supported the game, congratulations — you can now step into Wraeclast once more and loot your way across the world. Of course, if you're unable to access the game or run into bugs during the course of gameplay, it can be a frustrating experience. Don't worry. The developers are aware of the problems plaguing players right now and are working on a fix for high-priority problems.

There's been a lot of search traffic checking whether the game is down or not, but most players are able to start the game up. The biggest problems for Grinding Gear Games, according to PCGamesN, are delayed verification emails, codes not working, and random password resets. Sometimes, the in-game store doesn't show your point balance or prevents microtransaction purchases, and some partied-up players have reported endless loading screens.
