MSI gives sneak peek at bundle of gaming notebooks, desktops, and components

Gaming has been all the rage at CES 2017, with Nvidia highlighting its new GeForce GTX 1050/Ti GPUs for notebooks and a slew of manufacturers announcing some exciting new PC gaming solutions. Whether you’re looking for a mobile gaming system, a pre-built desktop, or high-end PC components, CES 2017 likely has something to pump you up.

Micro-Star International has been as busy as anyone, and they let loose their own announcement of some new gaming products on Wednesday. Simply put, there are a handful of updated notebooks, some new motherboards, and VR components coming soon.

Gaming Notebooks

First up is MSI’s updated line of gaming notebooks, which incorporate Intel’s Kaby Lake processors for a 15-percent non-overclocked and 25-percent overclocked boost in CPU performance. MSI is also taking advantage of Nvidia’s new GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti GPUs, to let mobile gamers enjoy near-desktop performance. MSI is also making a serious investment in VR-ready notebooks.

A number of new and updated notebooks are on their way in 2017, including the GT83VR, GT73VR, GT72VR, GT62VR, GS73VR, GS63VR, GS43VR, GE72VR, GE62VR, GP62VR, GP72VR, GP62MVR, GP72/GP62 and GL72/GL62 series. MSI makes particular note of improvements to audio via their ESS SABRE HiFi technology, which will be available on selected models. The world’s first Nahimic VR with 7.1 sound is another MSI exclusive that will be available on some of its gaming notebooks.

Gaming Motherboards

If you’re looking to build your own high-performance gaming PC, then MSI has you covered. The company is introducing a number of new motherboards that will utilize Intel’s Kaby Lake processors and bring a number of enhanced capabilities that leverage the most up-to-date technologies.

For example, MSI is incorporating M.2 Shield technology to protect against thermal throttling when M.2 solid-state disks (SSDs) are utilized. VR Boost is intended to ensure a smooth VR experience with reduced latency and a lower chance of users experiencing motion sickness when an MSI motherboard is utilized.

The MSI Z270 Gaming M7 motherboard was a winner of the CES Innovation Honorees 2017 award, highlighting the component’s versatility and high-end gaming chops. For example, audio Boost 4 Pro with Nahimic 2 is intended to ensure high-end audio for the most immersive VR experiences. Also, RGB Mystic Light technology is provided to allow users to change the colors and effects of lighting on every heatsink and cover on the motherboard.

The Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard also utilizes the Mystic Light technology and introduces Mystic Light Sync for coordinated colors and effects across the motherboard, cases, keyboards, and other accessories. Turbo M.2, Gaming LAN, and Audio Boost technology are featured on the Z270 Tomahawk motherboard.

Gaming Desktop PCs

If you’re looking for a pre-built desktop, then MSI has you covered as well. Specifically, the company is introducing its Aegis Series desktops at the high-end of its lineup. The Nightblade gaming desktop series is being updated with new exterior and interior designs. Finally, MSI is introducing what it calls the “world’s smallest VR Ready PC” with the new Trident 3 desktop utilizing Intel Kaby Lake processors.

Gaming Graphics Cards

The company is also introducing updated Gaming series GPUs with their branded GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming Z and X 8G GPUS with Twin Frozr VI cooling technology. MSI is also utilizing its GeForce GTX 1070 Quick Silver 8G GPUs for its midrange desktops. The Twin Frozr VI cooler is intended to provide superior cooling with the best acoustic performance, while MSI Graphics Upgrade Solution (GUS) will be an external Thunderbolt 3 GPU enclosure supporting Nvidia GeForce and AMD Radeon GPUs.

Gaming Gear

Finally, MSI is introducing some new gaming accessories across a wide range of categories. For example, the GH70 Gaming Headset promises exceptional HiFi audio performance via certified hi-res drivers and Virtual 7.1 surround sound, and color effects are supported via MSI’s Mystic Light Sync feature.

Next up is the Clutch GM70 Gaming mouse, with 18,000 DPI optical sensor and RGB Mystic Light support with both wired and wireless connectivity. Other input devices making their debut at CES 2017 include two new mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX switches and RGB Mystic Light support, the Vigor GK80 and GK70.
