Sony has always been committed to maintaining a gaming console for many years, stretching the lifespan of the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 to more than six years before introducing a successor. Now, the PlayStation4 is in its sixth year as the lead Sony console, and with a new iteration of hardware looming, the PS4 has really hit its stride. In the past few years, Sony has launched new models like the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim, not to mention the release of a slew of awesome games — and the prices have come down dramatically. Detroit: Become Human — $19
From Quantic Dream, the French developer behind award-winning titles like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, comes Detroit: Become Human. This interactive adventure might just be the best game yet from the Paris-based studio thanks to its great world-building, strong characters, and intuitive, accessible gameplay. Detroit: Become Human tells its story through the eyes of three android protagonists, putting you in control of each one as you explore their unique plotlines, which are shaped by your own choices and actions.
Like other Quantic Dream titles, the ultimate outcome of each story is determined by your decisions, encouraging multiple playthroughs so you can experience all the possible endings. Detroit: Become Human recently went for around $30 to $40 from online retailers, but the price has now dropped down to $20 on Amazon and Walmart, making it possibly the best PS4 game deal around right now.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard– $14
After two successful Revelations games that slowly brought the series back to its survival horror roots, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard completes the circle, throwing you once again into a derelict mansion where you must scavenge and use your wits to stay alive (this time from a first-person perspective, ditching the clunky third-person camera and awkward controls of earlier installments).
As Ethan Winters, you fight to survive against the deranged Baker family and a new humanoid enemy known as the “Molded” as you explore and solve puzzles in true Resident Evil fashion. If you want to play one of the best PS4 survival horror games to come out in recent years, then Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is now available for $17 from Walmart.
Abzu — $20
If you love relaxing adventure gaming titles like Journey and Rime on the PlayStation 4, then you owe it to yourself to experience Abzu, which is easily one of the most atmospheric and beautiful PS4 games ever made. Abzu takes you into a lovely underwater world filled with tens of thousands of fish and hundreds of real-life species from around the world, letting you explore colorful ocean environments, from caverns and coral reefs to sunken ruins, as you restore everything to life. All of this is set to original music by Austin Wintory, the same composer behind the award-winning Journey soundtrack.
Abzu’s breathtaking world and unique atmospheric experience will keep you coming back again and again. Dive into the magical PS4 gaming world of Abzu for $18 from Walmart and get ready to enjoy a unique underwater experience that no other PlayStation 4 or Xbox One game can offer.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age — $19
Like Okami and Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy XII is another PlayStation 2 classic that recently received a much-deserved remaster for the PS4. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age brings this excellent JRPG to Sony’s current-gen console with updated graphics, a remastered soundtrack, and some technical upgrades made for modern hardware. Like Final Fantasy III and VII, Final Fantasy XII is one of the best installments in this long-running series, and it’s the easiest one to recommend to gamers of all stripes.
Even if you’re typically not a fan of JRPGs (maybe traditional turn-based combat systems don’t appeal to you), the faster-paced semi-real-time combat, great story, and excellent art direction of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age make it a must-play for any PS4 owner. It’s cheap, too, at just $15 from Walmart.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided — $9
Deus Ex is one of the most famous games ever made, and like the movie Blade Runner, it played a huge part in defining the vibe and aesthetic of the cyberpunk genre. Square Enix resurrected this franchise with the 2011 hit Human Revolution, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided continues this prequel storyline. Agent Adam Jensen (now an Interpol operative) finds himself in Prague this time around, and you must harness the full power of his skills, weapons, and cybernetic enhancements to get to the bottom of a terrorist conspiracy set in a world that is increasingly prejudiced against augmented humans.
The plot of Mankind Divided isn’t quite as engaging as that of Human Revolution, given that this game is the “middle entry” in what is to be a trilogy, but this sequel improves upon the great open-ended stealth-action gameplay of its predecessors. (Thankfully, rumors that Square Enix was dropping the series were incorrect, although it is on hiatus for a little while.) Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is now on sale for $11 from Amazon or $13 from Walmart.
Yakuza 0 — $10
The Yakuza franchise of gangster sims has been around since the PlayStation 2, but despite having a dedicated following, it never quite broke through to huge mainstream success in the West – before Yakuza 0, that is. This prequel is set in the 1980s, before the events of the first Yakuza game, and playing as the protagonist Kiryu, you’ll beat up rival gangsters, claw your way up the ranks of Japan’s criminal underworld, and chew on a myriad of side missions and other extra activities.
Thanks to its great gameplay, compelling characters, wacky sense of humor, and the sheer amount of stuff it has for you to do, Yakuza 0 became a smash hit and one of the best-rated installments in the series. Yakuza 0 is a great experience for fans of the franchise, as well as gamers who are completely new to it, and at only $20, there’s never been a better time to become a gangster (in the virtual world, at least).
Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition — $19
Open-world games are a dime a dozen nowadays thanks to the beefy hardware of modern consoles and PCs (which is hardly a bad thing), and Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the best to come along in recent years. This breathtaking PS4 exclusive is built on a very unique premise, blending a post-apocalyptic setting and science fiction elements: With civilization destroyed, humans have reverted to near-Stone Age style of living and must fight to survive in a world teeming with dangerous animal-like mechanized robots.
Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition contains the main game plus The Frozen Wilds expansion. It just dropped to $20 from Walmart (or around $19 with shipping from Amazon), making now the perfect time to time to jump into one of the best PS4 exclusives – not to mention one of the best open-world games – we’ve seen yet.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience — $20
Hideo Kojima’s famous series of “tactical espionage action” games should need no introduction, and Metal Gear Solid V finishes off the franchise with perhaps the most ambitious installment yet. If you haven’t yet experienced this meaty title, then The Definitive Experience gives you everything you need in a single package: This includes the Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes prequel missions and the main game, The Phantom Pain, plus all of the DLC goodies.
With two sprawling open maps for you to explore, a lengthy single-player campaign, additional “Side Ops,” and different multiplayer modes, Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience gives you a boatload of content to bite into. You can now enjoy all of it for just $20 from Amazon.
Shadow of the Colossus — $18
Shadow of the Colossus is one of the most iconic titles we’ve ever seen, and if any video games can be considered “art,” then this is it. It recently got a much-needed remaster that brings this classic to modern consoles, and there’s no better time or better way to enjoy this gorgeous, sweeping adventure game in all its glory. For those unfamiliar, Shadow of the Colossus throws you, a young warrior, into a barren yet beautiful world where you must hunt down titanic beasts in an ill-fated Faustian bargain to save a loved one.
The remastered version of Shadow of the Colossus just got a nice price drop to $19, and you can currently get it from Walmart and Amazon. This is a great price for what is, hands down, one of the best PlayStation exclusives ever made.
— $18
The Last Guardian — $15
The Last Guardian is the latest creation of Fumito Ueda, the lead designer behind the iconic PS2 classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Fans of Ueda’s earlier works will be instantly familiar with the airy, time-worn aesthetic and exploration-rich gameplay of The Last Guardian.
This PS4 game puts you in the role of a young boy who wakes up stranded in a sprawling ancient complex and must work with a giant dog-like creature to find a way out. The Last Guardian is a beautiful and compelling adventure on the PS4, and now you can grab it on the cheap, as it’s available for $15 from Walmart.
— $15Walmart
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War — $15
Based on Peter Jackson’s sweeping cinematic interpretation of The Lord of the Rings, Middle-earth: Shadow of War offers a deeper look at the dirty underbelly of J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy universe. This sequel to Shadow of Mordor continues the first game’s darker exploration of the world of Middle-earth, this time letting you build your own Orc legion and making carving out your kingdom and challenging Sauron’s dominion your ultimate duty.
Grab your sword and prepare to do battle with the Dark Lord himself in Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, now just $18.50 from Target or $20 from Walmart (and it’s also available for Xbox One). If you’re looking for one of the best PS4 gaming deals around, look no further.
— $15
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration — $20
Lara Croft is back and better than ever in Rise of the Tomb Raider, the PS4 gaming sequel to the hit 2013 reboot of the long-running franchise that first made its mark on the original PlayStation. The new games have earned universal critical acclaim for their darker atmospheres, great graphics, excellent action-adventure gameplay, and solid stories that transformed Croft from a campy action hero into a relatable heroine.
Rise of the Tomb Raider takes Lara’s adventures to snowy Siberia, with the 20 Year Celebration edition giving you the DLC episodes released since the initial launch. You can grab it now for the PS4 from Walmart for $20 and start gaming.
— $20
Okami HD — $18
Okami is widely — and rightly — considered to be one of the best console games ever made. This unique Zelda-like adventure title plunges you into a gorgeous cell-shaded world based on feudal Japan, complete with creatures and deities straight out of Japanese mythology. You control a mystical wolf named Shiranui — a manifestation of the sun goddess Amaterasu — who commands a wide array of magical weapons and abilities, which you will use to rid the land of an ancient darkness that has once again taken root.
Along the way, you meet a large cast of endearing and whimsical characters and increasingly powerful monsters as you level up your abilities. Okami HD is a fairly long PS4 game too, giving you plenty to chew on, and at just $18 from Walmart, you’re getting a lot for your money. If you’ve never experienced this classic, or if you just want to have another go-round in widescreen HD, then now’s your chance. It’s also available for the Nintendo Switch if you prefer to use a Joy-Con over a PS4 controller.
— $18
Fallout 4 — $15
Fallout is one of the longest-running franchises around, but it still somehow manages to exceed our expectations with each new console release. Fallout 4 is no exception, and its massive open world gives you total freedom to fight and scavenge your way across a post-apocalyptic wasteland in an alternative universe where civilization has been devastated by a worldwide nuclear war.
You emerge as the lone survivor of Vault 111, and must employ whatever means necessary in order to survive and thrive in the radioactive ruins of the U.S. Customize your character, join factions, level your skills, and even build your own base in Bethesda’s epic follow-up to 2008’s Fallout 3. Fallout 4 offers a true next-gen PS4 experience and can be yours for $17 from Walmart or $15 from Target. A VR version of Fallout 4 has also been recently released if you have a PSVR headset and really want to dive in using your PlayStation 4.
Walmart — $15
Doom — $18
The new Doom is a game that few people saw coming. Id Software and Bethesda had a big task ahead of them when they announced a reboot of the decades-old franchise that defined an entire genre. Expectations soared and, thankfully, Doom met and even exceeded hopes when it dropped on consoles and was met with massive sales and universal critical acclaim.
While 2004’s Doom 3 was an awesome first-person console shooter, its slower gameplay and survival-horror elements strayed a bit from the classic Doom formula. Id’s new Doom takes the franchise right back to its roots, throwing a stranded space marine — you, the player — into a whirling maelstrom of slaughter and chaos as you battle alone against the armies of hell. You can enjoy the next-gen graphics and heart-pounding FPS action of Doom for $17, and it is also available for Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. There is even a VR version of this PS4 game if you know where to look.
— $18
Ratchet & Clank — $10
Ratchet & Clank, the latest entry in the Sony PlayStation’s long-running action-adventure series, is a reimagining of the franchise based on the 2016 movie of the same name. While the film didn’t set the world on fire, the PS4 game was met with widespread critical approval and quickly became the best-selling Ratchet & Clank title to date.
Ratchet & Clank puts you back in control of the titular hero and his robotic sidekick, It offers all-new gameplay, next-generation graphics, and cinematic cut-scenes, but the game still has all the classic run-and-gun platforming action that fans of the series know and love. You can score this PS4 exclusive for $15 and enjoy one of the best game deals around.
— $10
The Last of Us Remastered — $15

If you missed the original (or want to experience it again in next-gen glory), now’s the time to pick up the remastered version for the PlayStation 4. The gritty story focuses on a man named Joel and a young girl named Ellie as the two fight to survive in the American wasteland following a devastating pandemic that has wiped out much of the population.
The Last of Us Remastered features a graphically enhanced version of the original title, all DLC packs, and an all-new prequel story that sheds more light on Ellie’s past. This award-winning adventure game can be yours for $18 from Walmart or $19 from Amazon, making it one of the best cheap PS4 games on the market.

Need your survival-horror itch scratched? Until Dawn is another PlayStation 4 exclusive that is sure to please gamers with an appetite for the macabre. This game takes place in the frozen mountains of Canada and focuses on a group of teenagers during their ill-advised overnight stay in an old cabin (does this premise sound familiar?).
The teens fall under attack by a psychopath bent on murder, and the player must make hard choices while attempting to escape and survive until sunrise. Along with the branching, player-driven story, Until Dawn offers more than enough suspense and survival-horror action to keep you adrenaline junkies on the edge of your seats. You can score this critically acclaimed PS4 exclusive for as cheap as $15 from Walmart. Make sure you put on that gaming headset to take full advantage of the horror.
— $10

The final title in the Dark Souls series doesn’t reinvent the wheel — and with a formula that works as well as this, that’s not a bad thing at all. Gamers who have been waiting for a price drop are in luck, as well: Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades is now available from Amazon and GameStop for just $20. This complete edition of the game includes the main single-player campaign plus the Ashes of Ariendel and The Ringed City DLC expansions.

Cooperate with up to two of your friends to explore and fight your way across numerous dungeons where great treasures — and great horrors — await you.
