Computer maker Acer is still giddy about being crowned the number-two computer maker in the world market, and to celebrate the company is rolling out three new notebooks in its TravelMate Timeline series: the TravelMate TimeLine 8571, 8471, and 8371. All three systems are aimed at business travelers and professions, and feature prolonged battery life when used with Acer’s proprietary PowerSmart Manager: the company claims they’ll run for as long as 8 hours on a single battery charge.
The new TravelMate Timelines all feature similar base configurations, differing mainly in screen size across the models. The systems all feature Intel Core 2 Duo processors starting at 1.4 GHz, 3 to 4 GB of RAM, 320 GB hard drives, 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth wireless networking an integrated Super-Multi DVD drive, a 5-in-1 digital media card reader, integrated webcam, three USB 2.0 ports, Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, and HDMI output.
The TravelMate Timeline 8371 features a 13.3-inch 1,366 by 768-pixel display, while the 8471s step up to a 14.1-inch 1,366 by 768 display and 8751s step up to a 15.6-inch 1,366 by 768 display.
The TravelMate Timelines ship with Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) pre-installed, and Acer provides a CD with Windows XP Professional that can be installed if users prefer. The systems all support Acer’s optional EasyPort IV port replicator for easy connection to desktop peripherals like printers or additional keyboards and monitors. The systems are all Energy Start 5.0-compliant.
The new TravelMate Timelines are available now with starting prices ranging from $899 to $999.
