Having reviewed both Asus’ G50VT and G51VX in the past, we know just how gaudy Asus is willing to go under the Republic of Gamers marquee. A little too far for us. The new Asus G73Jh, however, reels it in with a tastefully understated matte black exterior “inspired by the iconic F-117 stealth fighter.” It’s flattering analogy for this style, but we see the resemblance, especially in those louvered fan grilles on the back. We might be more inclined to call it “ThinkPad meets DeLorean,” but it made us smile either way. For fans of the old flashiness, Asus kept the backlit keyboard and under-display glow on this model, both of which can be turned off for when you really want to go stealth (or save battery life). And in the Republic of Gamers spirit, the specs are nothing to laugh at: Intel Core i7 processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics with 1GB dedicated RAM, and a 17.3-inch 1080p LED-backlit screen.
