There are plenty of options for controllers on the Xbox One, from the standard black to the variety of colors in Xbox Design Lab. If you’re looking for something a little more bold, however, the Sport Red Special Edition controller might be right up your alley.

The Xbox One Sport Red Special Edition controller, announced during Inside Xbox on February 5, features a bright red shell offset with darker shades of red for the control sticks and face buttons. On either handle, there is a grid-like pattern made up of triangles, and it also includes a metallic red directional pad. If you want to map the buttons to suit your playing style, you can use the customization tool in the Xbox Accessories app.

The back of the controller features rubberized grips, and a special charging stand in the same color is also going to be available on May 1. Made by Controller Gear, the stand includes a battery cover, rechargeable battery, and 6-foot charging cord, and it will retail for $50 at the Microsoft Store and other outlets. Standard Xbox One controllers support AA batteries by default.

The Sport Red Special Edition controller will start shipping to retailers on March 5, and will sell for $70. Microsoft said in an announcement that the controller will also come with two-week trials to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass in “select regions” — Xbox Game Pass is not available in all markets.

Microsoft Super Bowl Commercial 2019: We All Win (Extended Version)

Microsoft has certainly committed to letting players enjoy their games the way they prefer on Xbox One. In addition to the many different standard controllers and the Elite controller, the Xbox One Adaptive Controller is also available.

Designed for use by players whose disabilities would otherwise limit their ability to enjoy games, it features input jacks for every function of a traditional controller. Using these, players can choose how to perform these functions to suit their needs, ensuring they can play alongside those using standard controllers. The Adaptive Controller was highlighted in a commercial played during the Super Bowl on February 3, and it’s compatible with Xbox One, as well as Windows 10 via Bluetooth and USB-C.

3 new Xbox Game Pass games to play this weekend (August 16-18)
Crash Bandicoot runs forward in the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Xbox has only received five new games so far this August, but three of them share a theme. The connective tissue between all of these additions is that they're new versions of older classics. With collections for some bombastic first-person shooters and cartoony platformers, and a remake of a crime action game, Xbox Game Pass' classics catalog has just been fleshed out with some excellent titles that come easily recommended. If you're looking for something to play on Microsoft's subscription service this weekend, consider checking out one of these three games.
Mafia: Defintive Edition

Mafia: Definitive Edition is a full-on remake of the 2002 mafioso crime action game Mafia. It's a Grand Theft Auto alternative set in a fictional 1930s city based on Chicago that follows the Italian mob in control of the city at the time. While Mafia never reached the heights of GTA, all the games in that series are creative and interesting in distinct ways. When it comes to the first Mafia specifically, the city of Lost Haven is an intricately detailed setting and provides a solid backdrop for a mob story that fans of movies like The Godfather or Goodfellas will enjoy. A fourth Mafia game is in development too, so now is a good time to get a better idea of how the series started. Mafia: Definitive Edition is available to play across PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Cloud Gaming via Game Pass Ultimate. It's also available on PS4.

Some big Xbox games might finally get release dates at Gamescom
A masked figure in Avowed. The mask looks like it's made of gold, it has glowing red eyes, and there's a hood over its head.

Xbox is taking the stage at Gamescom later this month, bringing three big presentations for Avowed, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Starfield: Shattered Space. These are all games set to come out in 2024, but none have release dates or have been fully revealed to the public.

While we got the most in-depth look MachineGames' upcoming Indiana Jones title and its gameplay during the company's summer showcase, we don't have a release date or any information about the larger story, besides that it takes place chronologically between Raiders of the Lost Arc and The Last Crusade, involves Nazis, and features a mysterious artifact (so, not too different from a typical Indiana Jones story). We do know that the majority of the gameplay will be in first person and that there will be puzzles, but little else.

Xbox’s new transparent controller will take you back to the 2000s
A blue translucent Xbox controller in front of a cyber blue background.

I miss translucent tech products as a industrywide trend, and it seems a lot of other people do too. Case in point is the new Sky Cipher Special Edition controller Xbox announced on Wednesday.

The transparent blue Xbox Wireless Controller, which will go on sale for $70 on August 13 and is now available for preorder, can show off inner workings like, as Xbox says, the rumble pack. It also has metallic D-pad and triggers that should be more durable than plastic, rubber grips on the back, and "silver interior parts" that make it look simultaneously futuristic and nostalgic.
