Save big on the Nintendo Switch with Newegg’s latest deal

The Nintendo Switch has an absolutely stellar lineup of games in its library, including exclusives and third-party titles, and there has never been a better time to purchase it. If you’re looking to get the system, Newegg currently has a great deal on both versions, as well as discounts on one of its biggest games.

Newegg is offering the neon blue/red variant of the Nintendo Switch, as well as the gray version for the standard $300, but if you use the coupon code EMCTVVA34, you can buy either version for $270.

The standard Nintendo Switch package includes the console itself, as well as the dock, two Joy-Con controllers, and the Joy-Con Grip. The Joy-Con Grip turns the two Joy-Con controllers into a gamepad similar to more traditional consoles, though we recommend also purchasing the Pro Controller for longer docked play sessions.

It’s one of the most inventive games we’ve seen from the series in years, taking the basic Super Mario 64 formula and introducing the ability to possess enemies or objects and control them directly. As you can imagine, this makes for some great obstacles and challenges.

The Nintendo Switch will only get better in 2019. This July, Fire Emblem: Three Houses brings the series to the console for the first time, and Platinum Games is currently working on both Astral Chain and Bayonetta 3. Add to that the dozens of console ports and indie games, and you have a system that can go toe-to-toe with the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and even PC.

Sony could be following up the release of the PlayStation Portal with a new handheld PlayStation 5 console, according to a new report.

Bloomberg claims that Sony is working on a portable PlayStation 5 and would be in direct competition with the Nintendo Switch successor or an Xbox handheld, which Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said is in early testing. RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic will bring PC nostalgia to Nintendo Switch

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic has been on mobile and Steam for many years, and it's finally coming to Nintendo Switch this December, Atari announced Thursday. It's available for preorder now on the eShop for $25.

Classic is actually a remastered bundle of the first two RollerCoaster Tycoon games and the three expansion packs: Toolkit, Wacky Worlds, and Time Twister, created by Chris Sawyer. The first debuted in 1999, and it set the standard for some of our favorite management sims. The series has staying power, too, although a lot of the recent entries have all been on mobile, especially for iOS. Atari released RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic, which was made in conjunction with Sawyer, for iOS and Android in 2016, and on Steam in 2017. And by all accounts, despite its age, Classic is absolutely worth the time.

People have a lot of questions about what a second Donald Trump presidential administration will look like, and one of the big concerns surrounds proposed tariffs on foreign imports, with larger ones targeted for China. If these are passed, it could signal a big change in how video game hardware and software is manufactured and could lead to increased costs for players.

Digital Trends spoke to analysts about the potential impact that tariffs could have on tech like game consoles. As of this writing, the proposal is to implement a 10% or 20% tariff on all imports, but a specific 60% tariff on Chinese imports. Some analysts we reached out to declined to comment on the impact of the tariffs because while Trump has discussed a plan, it hasn't gone into effect and might not. Others, like Serkan Toto of Japanese games industry consulting firm Kantan, warned that consumers could be the ones paying the cost if plans go into effect.
