Ubisoft is rebranding its Uplay+ subscription service, changing its name to Ubisoft+. The service will relaunch on Google Stadia and Amazon Luna this year.

A beta version of Ubisoft+ will launch on Luna on November 10. It costs $15 a month and features a library of more than 100 Ubisoft games that can be played free of additional fees during the beta.

Subscribers will have access to premium editions of upcoming releases like Immortals Fenyx Rising and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, though the fine print specifies that premium editions “may not include all premium content.”

The service will come to Google Stadia later this year, though no exact date has been given. Subscribers can sign up with the free tier of Stadia, so a Stadia Pro subscription is not required to access Ubisoft+ on the platform. Ubisoft+ subscriptions carry over between services, so players won’t need to subscribe twice to use Ubisoft+ on both Luna and Stadia.

The service features cross-platform progression, allowing players to pick up where they left off in a game across devices. Ubisoft’s announcement post does specify that the beta is available to “subscribers on PC,” so it’s currently unclear if Ubisoft+ games will be playable on mobile devices at launch.

The announcement continues Ubisoft’s notable history with cloud gaming. Before Stadia launched, Google tested its cloud gaming capabilities by allowing players to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in a browser. When the beta ended, testers received a free copy of the game in their Uplay+ library with all progression saved. The company recently collaborated with Google again this month, making a demo of Immortals Fenyx Rising available on the service exclusively.

With Stadia's shutdown only months away, Bethesda is now offering free access to The Elder Scrolls Online on PC and Mac to all Stadia players. Players who own the title on Stadia only need to log in to their ESO account page and download the game, with no additional purchase required.

When Google announced that it was shutting down its cloud service, Stadia, fans had questions about what would happen to their progress in specific games like Destiny 2. Some developers have moved to port their games to other platforms in response to the confusion, but The Elder Scrolls Online will go a step further by making sure Stadia players won't lose any progress.

outcasters google stadia port announcement

Splash Damage has announced that Outcasters, which it released exclusively on Google Stadia in July, won't be ported to other gaming systems after the online streaming platform shuts down in January 2023.

Outcasters is a battle royale-style game that allowed players to get creative with their shots, controlling their direction and speed after firing them off. Unlike Fortnite, its multiplayer mode caps the number of players to eight. The London-based Splash Damage tweeted a statement Wednesday saying it had no plans to port Outcasters because it was programmed exclusively for Stadia, as its complex gameplay mechanics required the use of cloud streaming technology.
