Cyberpunk 2077 appears to be returning to the PlayStation Store

After being taken down last December, Cyberpunk 2077 is almost back on the PlayStation Store. The game was taken off of the digital storefront, an unprecedented move from Sony, on December 17, after it became clear that the game was essentially unplayable on all base PlayStation 4 consoles. PlayStation 4 Pro owners fared somewhat better, but still saw performance issues with the game. PlayStation 5 owners had the best luck of the bunch but were still plagued by the game’s own bugs, glitches, and instability.

While you won’t find the latest title from CD Projekt Red on the digital shop’s web browser, IGN managed to find it on the PlayStation 5 Store. Apparently, the game can be found by simply searching for it. Cyberpunk 2077 is also showing up under the PS5 Store’s “just announced” tag.

Cyberpunk 2077 and its developer CD Projekt Red have been fraught with controversy since the game’s release. Cyberpunk itself released to mixed reviews, mainly because CDPR only shared review codes for the game on PC, which happened to be the best platform to play the game on. Console performance of the game at launch was abysmal, with low framerates and frequent bugs and glitches being the least of the game’s problems.

Since removing the game from the PlayStation Store in December, Sony has stayed quiet on the matter, essentially leaving the ball in CD Projekt Red’s court. To that end, the developer has been rigorously updating the game, with its April 1.2 patch fixing a large swath of issues it had on PlayStation consoles.

Still, it’s not clear when players will be able to purchase Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation store again. Currently, the only option available is to wishlist the game.

You can prepare for Dragon Age: The Veilguard for $4 during PlayStation’s Summer Sale

Dragon Age: The Veilguard from BioWare and EA is one of the biggest games set to launch this fall. It will mark the first new game in the fantasy RPG series in a decade and hopefully be a single-player return to form for BioWare after the ill-regarded Anthem. For the rest of July, Dragon Age: Inquisition -- Game of the Year Edition, which includes the 50+ hour-long RPG and all of its DLC, is discounted to just $4 on the PlayStation Store as part of this Summer Sale. That's a 90% discount from its typical $40 price tag. If you've been wondering what to pick up as part of PlayStation's big summer sale and plan on playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard later this year, then getting Dragon Age: Inquisition and all its DLC for just $4 is clearly the deal to go with.

PlayStation Plus Premium is finally living up to its potential

It was inevitable that PlayStation Plus would be broken up into tiers at some point. For years, it was already split between the core PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, but there was almost no focus put on the latter service until Xbox Game Pass started ramping up. Instead of just rebranding Now as a second tier to Plus, it was instead segmented into Extra and Premium above the Essential tier, which was largely unchanged from what Plus was prior to the change. Premium, being the most expensive option, and even getting the largest price hike with the price increases we saw last year, needed the quality and consistency to match the new asking price.

Up until very recently, I couldn't say PlayStation Plus Premium was worth the cost. It just wasn't delivering the kind of consistency it needed to sell it. Now, it looks like it may be living up to its potential as the best option for longtime PlayStation fans.
The promise of Premium
At a glance, Extra looks like the best value of PS Plus' three tiers if you want more than the absolute basics of online play, cloud saves, and a few free games a month. Extra provides access to a huge library of PS4 and PS5 games from first- and third-parties, frequent new additions, and even the occasional day-one drop. Premium, on the other hand, initially offered nothing more than a drip feed of two or three PS1 and PSP games for years. That's great if you happened to get a game you were fond of or curious about, but the inconsistent pace and quality of the games were hardly worth the yearly price when you could opt to just purchase any that caught your eye à la carte.

PlayStation Plus’ July game catalog is absolutely stacked

PlayStation announced its PlayStation Plus catalog for July, and it's one of the most packed lineups we've seen in a while. It's not only a great mix of genres (including VR) but it features some well-known franchises as well as indies. They're all coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members on July 16.

Arguably, the two largest games are Remnant 2 and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. The former is a third-person Soulslike shooter (yes that combination is possible) with procedurally generated areas and quests. It's a direct sequel to the popular Remnant: From the Ashes, so if you're looking for more of its unique blend of gameplay elements, this might be a good pick. Unfortunately, this is the standard edition, so you won't get access to the The Awakened King DLC
