Check out the NGP in action

Call it the NGP, call it the PSP2. Regardless of what name ends up gracing the box, Sony’s recently debuted wunderkin handheld has already stolen the attention of fans and media alike since its unveiling last week. We know the majority of the specs now, which give us an idea of the potential, but reading that it has a quad-core ARM processor and an OLED screen are not the same as actually seeing the thing in action.

In the clip below, the NGP shows off a handful of what are going to be launch titles for the device. The games featured in the clip include (most are working titles): Hot Shots Golf Next, Gravity Daze, Killzone, Hustle Kings, Reality Fighters, Smart As, Broken, Little Big Planet, Little Deviants, WipEout, Resistance and Uncharted. It isn’t clear if the games that are already PS3 titles, such as Little Big Planet and Uncharted are ports of their console counterparts, or it the titles are new entries into the respective franchises. The only other launch title that has been announced but was not featured is an upcoming Call of Duty title.

It is hard to take away too much from the video, but the graphics seem to fall between PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 standards. Again, until we have a better hands on look at the device in action, it is hard to say. Regardless, the NGP is shaping up to be an impressive device.

Xbox is shuttering its Avatars, but you still have time to customize yours
Three Xbox avatars standing side by side. They're in a blue jacket, black jacket, and red jacket, respectively.

Remember your Xbox Avatar? Well, your ability to change them up is going away soon. Xbox quietly announced that it's shutting down the Xbox Avatar Editor early next year, and therefore, basically all Xbox Avatar functionality.

Microsoft wrote on an Xbox Support page (spotted by Pure Xbox) that it's sunsetting the app, which let you create and customize an avatar with items you could buy in the Xbox Store, on January 9, 2025, due to "low engagement" and the need to shift its priorities to other projects.

Warcraft Remastered is a trip through history that never was, and always will be
An orc and human battle in Warcraft Remastered art.

I played Warcraft II for the first time at a friend’s house, on LAN multiplayer. I didn’t know what Warcraft was; I didn’t even have much experience with the best real-time strategy games. I’d grow to love games like Age of Empires II and Starcraft, but at that point, I didn’t know what I was doing. I chose Orcs because they looked cool, had dragons (dragons were also cool), and probably lost all the games we played. I didn’t think about it again, until years later, my World of Warcraft-obsessed friends, convinced me to play that. I picked a mage because the one in the opening cinematic fighting an Infernal was, again, cool, and the rest is history.

I came to love Warcraft III after the fact because those same friends wouldn’t shut up about it. I bought a Battle Chest and everything. I still have it. And when I went back to Warcraft and Warcraft II out of curiosity, several years later, I remembered that I had seen all of this before. It was like watching a movie on TV, and then going back, years later, and watching all the sequels out of order.
