Greenpois0n updated, now offers untethered Apple TV jailbreak

The iOS hacking group Chronic Dev Team have announced the release of an update to the Greenpois0n jailbreak utility that offers an untethered jailbreak for the Apple TV 2G. The new Greenpois0n build allows owners of the second-generation Apple TV to download and install the popular NitoTV software and its accompanying features.

Up until the release of Greenpois0n RC6, most jailbreaking options for the Apple TV were tethered, meaning that the device had to be connected to a computer during boot ups.

Earlier this month, Chronic Dev Team announced the release of the Greenpois0n RC5 update, which finally offered jailbreaking support for iOS 4.2.1. Verizon iPhone owners who are interested in jailbreaking don’t need to feel left out. Even though Apple has already updated the iOS for the new Verizon iPhone 4 to 4.2.6, Greenpois0n RC6 should be able to jailbreak it.
