It’s about that time of year when ladies begrudgingly flock to their favorite stores to hunt for the perfect summer swimsuit that is at once fashionable, comfortable, and flattering. It’s generally not a fun shopping trip, but it’s better than being caught on a beautiful day with boring or ill-fitting beachwear. We would argue that gentlemen on the beach garner fewer looks and stares than ladies, but that doesn’t mean that the pair of board shorts with strange flowers and waves printed on them is an acceptable look. Luckily, swimwear brand Onia has come to the rescue with three tailored, simple styles of swim trunks that will serve you in function and style summer after summer. The Calder trunk ($130, above) is our favorite style, offering the classic fit of a pair of shorts made from a cotton/nylon blend sourced from Japan. These trunks are simple and classic, and could even go from lunch to the beach to a walk around town. The Alek boardshort is similar in fit, but has a cord tie at the waist, and the Amaury boardshort features the same cord tie, a paneled front, and a slanted back zipper pocket.
