Verizon HTC Trophy revealed, available May 26

HTC TrophyMay 26 is going to be a busy day. The Xperia Play and Droid X2 both hit shelves, and Verizon will release its first Windows Phone 7, the HTC Trophy for sale online. It will be the first Windows Phone for the carrier, and to further sweeten the deal for Microsoft fanboys out there, Halo: Reach, Kinect Sports, or Lode Runner for the Xbox 360 will be thrown in with the purchase – provided you buy the handset before July 15.

The HTC Trophy comes with all the typical WP7 features we’ve come to expect: Xbox LIVE mobile, the Music + Video Hub, and the Windows Phone Marketplace and its 15,000 apps. The phone will retail for $149.99 after a $50 rebate and new two-year contract, and will available in stores starting June 2.

It’s encouraging to see WP7 continue to get its foot in the mobile door, what with some would call a discouraging start. But introducing a Verizon handset is big, considering the network’s reach and continuing 4G-LTE ambitions. Here’s a look at the HTC Trophy’s specs:

  • 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
  • WVGA 3.8-inch touchscreen
  • 5-megapixel camera with AF and LED flash
  • 720p HD video
  • 16 GB storage
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n)
  • “Global-ready” (i.e., 3G capabilities in more than 125 countries)

The phone will also come with the latest WP7 updates, including its increased Microsoft Office functions.

Samsung Galaxy S24 users can now download a new software update. Although it’s not the update people have been waiting for, it’s still important.

According to SamMobile, a new software update is being rolled out for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra. The firmware version for this update is S92xUSQS4AXJA, and it includes the November 2024 security patch. This update addresses multiple security vulnerabilities, but does not introduce any new features. Instead, it resolves dozens of security issues identified in the previous software version.
