Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD version shows off its E3 gameplay footage

If you are a fan of the Metal Gear series, then you know how important the story is. What began on the NES back in 1987 has gone on to become one of—possibly the—most story-intensive series in video game history. If you need proof of that just go play Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and clock how much time you spend in cutscenes versus how much you spend in actual gameplay—it will be about even your first time through.

Needless to say, the story is important to fans who have been with Snake for years now, which makes it a shame that so many people skipped the PSP game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which was originally to be called Metal Gear Solid 5. The game did not sell well, and paired with the relatively low number of people that own PSPs, a huge section of fans were not able to experience the story that was a prelude to the original NES game. That will change later this year, when Konami releases the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in November, featuring Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

All three games will receive a graphical overhaul for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Of the three, Peace Walker was the least played, which made it among the most interesting to see at E3 this year. Below is a clip from Konami showing off a bit of the game as it will appear in the collection. It isn’t up to the same standards of MGS4, but with Solid Snake’s story apparently having concluded, this game acts as the final piece to the story that spans 50 years.

For those that know the mythology of the series, Peace Walker takes place in 1974, ten years after the events of MGS3: Snake Eater, and four years after the events of MGS: Portable Ops. A new group called the Peace Sentinels have arrived in Costa Rica and threaten peace in the world. The events then lead to what will become the formation of Outer Haven.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is due out in November on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Xbox Game Pass is getting tons of new games following Black Ops 6 success
A cockpit view in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

We know a lot of you are playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Xbox right now, but the company just announced some games coming to Xbox Game Pass -- specifically the Game Pass Standard tier -- in the first half of November.

The biggest game coming to the service (and we mean that literally) is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Xbox and developers Asobo Studio previously reported that it will have a smaller install size than its predecessor -- 127GB versus 157GB -- but it'll also require 64GB of RAM. All of this is to help stream immense detail to the player as they fly around the world. Asobo says helped it to increase "the detail of its virtual environment by a factor of 4,000." Alongside the hyperrealistic graphics is a new career mode where you go through training and missions to become a pilot and a challenge mode where you compete against other pilots. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is coming to Game Pass at launch on November 19.

How to get all pets in Stardew Valley
Standing beside pet dog in Stardew Valley.

Although having a pet cat or dog has been a longtime feature in Stardew Valley, the significant 1.6 update has allowed players to own more than just one pet. Not only that, but developer ConcernedApe added turtles as an entirely new type of pet to this charming farming simulator.

Adopting more pets isn't as easy as it may sound, and you'll have to prove that you can take care of more than just one creature at a time. If you're ready to take that leap and want as many pets as possible in Stardew Valley, we'll explain how you can adopt more animals in the 1.6 update, which is now available for console and mobile.
How to adopt more pets in Stardew Valley
Aside from the pet that everyone gets at the start of a Stardew Valley playthrough, players can adopt additional pets once they've reached maximum friendship levels with their main pet. Players will get their first pet for free during their first spring once they've earned at least 1,000 gold. Marnie will appear outside their door with a dog or a cat, depending on which animal they chose as their favorite during character creation.

All confirmed games with PS5 Pro enhancements
A PS5 Pro sits on a table with a DualSense.

The main selling point of the PlayStation 5 Pro is how it will remove the need to decide between quality and performance modes on certain games. Thanks to its new GPU and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, all the best PS5 games can be played at the highest frame rates without sacrificing visual fidelity. However, this won't apply to every PS5 game by default. Games will need an update to take advantage of the console's new power. If you want to know which of your best-looking PS5 games will get a PS5 Pro enhancement, here is every game confirmed to be getting a boost.
