Nightwing a playable character in Batman: Arkham City

The complete list of trophies for Batman: Arkham City has been released courtesy of PS3Trophies.org, and among the spoilers inherent with all trophy/achievement lists, two for one character stood out. Listed as an add-on is the “Nightwing DLC,” which would make him the fourth playable character in Batman: Arkham City.

The former Boy Wonder turned superhero will be available as a DLC, according to the trophy list. The requirements for the Nightwing trophies are identical to those of another DLC character, Robin, who will be available to purchase or as a Best Buy pre-order.

Both Catwoman and Robin have a distinctly different fighting style from Batman, so it would make sense that Nightwing would as well. The character is still unofficial, so no word yet on when he would be available to download, or how much that DLC might cost.

Also on the trophy list was a Catwoman DLC. Catwoman has long been planned and announced as a playable character, and a section of the game played as Catwoman was even displayed at E3. With the trophies for Catwoman specifically available only through the DLC, that may signify a code included with the game, possibly as a deterrent to buying it used.

Batman: Arkham City will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 18.

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath expansion features a new story and RoboCop
mortal kombat 11 robocop

Mortal Kombat 11 is bringing in 80s film icon RoboCop for its upcoming Aftermath expansion that will add an epilogue to its story.

While Mortal Kombat is no stranger to post-launch support, Aftermath marks the first DLC to include story elements. Launching May 26, the expansion will feature two returning characters in the god of wind Fujin and Sheeva, a half-dragon and half-human who first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3. Those two fighters will be in the new cinematic story that sees Liu Kang team up with an old foe in Shang Tsung. It's unknown if RoboCop, who is voiced by actor Peter Weller, will have an actual role or if he will just be a bonus character. Three skin packs are also included in Aftermath, which will cost $40.

Batman Arkham Knight

It has been nearly five years since the launch of Batman: Arkham Knight, with only Arkham VR to tide fans over. What that being the case, we began wondering: What should go in the next Batman game, and what shouldn’t go in it? Here is what we’re hoping to see and not see in the next Batman game from Warner Bros.

20 years later, the Nintendo DS remains one of gaming’s best devices
Nintendo DS on a pink background.

It's a special day. Today, November 21, 2024, marks the 20th anniversary of the Nintendo DS' launch in North America.

It’s hard for me to believe it’s been that long, because Nintendo's dual-screen handheld device defined my childhood more than any other device. While I started my gaming journey on the original Xbox and Game Boy Advance, the Nintendo DS is what truly made me fall in love with video games. It was an innovative piece of technology that drew my attention in ways none of my other childhood toys could. These were formative gaming experiences that I’ll always remember.
