Microsoft to release a 320GB hard drive for the Xbox 360

The new Xbox 360 models are about to receive the option of an upgrade. Microsoft has announced through Eurogamer that it will be releasing a 320GB hard drive for all Xbox 360 S models.

For those that haven’t tried, replacing the hard drive in a new Xbox 360 is a simple matter of opening the protective door and gently pulling it out. As for the transfer of data, it wasn’t expressly mentioned, but odds are the new hard drive will come packaged with a cable that makes the transferring of all the data off the current 250GB hard drives included with the new Xbox 360s, a simple task. For those that purchased the new arcade model with the 4GB hard drive, the 320GB drive will be an even easier fit.

The 320GB hard drive will cost $129.99, and is expected later this month. As an added bonus, included on the hard drive will be an Xbox Live download code for Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

Xbox Live experienced a major sign-in outage Tuesday afternoon that made it impossible to log into your Xbox profile to play games online.

I noticed it after attempting to sign into my Xbox Live account on my Xbox Series X. I got an error message telling me to "try again in a while." A quick glance at X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that I was not the only person to have this issue. "We are aware that some users have been disconnected from Xbox Live. We're investigating! Please follow here and on our status page for updates," the official X account for Xbox Support tweeted.

Xbox is going all in on strategy games. On Wednesday, it announced that Ara: History Untold is coming to PC on September 24 and will be available on day one with PC Game Pass.

Weirdly enough, though, the news coverage has been slim, despite Xbox releasing a whole podcast about it and the soon-to-release Age of Mythology: Retold from the Age of Empires team. It's also strange that the news didn't pop up in this summer's Xbox Game Showcase, which took place days ago. The podcast and blog is all there is to show how Xbox is committed to real-time strategy.

The best external hard drives for Xbox Series X
xbox all access price pre orders retailers 2

The Xbox Series X's 1TB sounds excellent on paper, but in reality, Microsoft's console only offers about 802GBs of storage due to updates and the operating system. You may find yourself filling up your space quickly, especially if you're looking to download every new title that becomes available on Xbox Game Pass. Let's face it, Call of Duty alone takes well over 100GBs of storage — and with the system targeting 4K resolution, games are only growing in size.

The Xbox Series X is compatible with any external hard drive up to 16TB of storage. Games optimized for the Xbox Series X can only be stored on, but not played from, an external drive due to the games being designed to take advantage of faster loading speeds and Xbox Velocity Architecture. However, when it comes to storage for your Xbox Series X, there are many options to choose from as your game library expands. We have compiled a list of external drives that will make your gaming experience seamless. Note that they will come with the proper cables needed to connect to your Xbox console.
