The Hitman trilogy is turning into one $70 collection this month

Io Interactive is making a major change to how Hitman players access the series’ most recent trilogy. On January 26, Hitman 3 will turn into Hitman: World of Assassination, a $70 collection featuring Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3.

The shift likely won’t come as too much of a surprise to anyone who’s been following the Hitman franchise over the past few years. Since the launch of Hitman 3 in 2021, Io has moved to create parity between all three games in the trilogy, uniting them under the World of Assassination banner. Now the developer is going one step further by turning all three games into a single listing.

Here’s what’s changing: On January 26, Hitman 3 will turn into Hitman: World of Assassination, which will cost $70 Hitman and Hitman 2 will be moved into that package, and players who own Hitman 3 will gain access to those two games when the switch happens for free.

Hitman and Hitman 2 will be entirely delisted in the changeover, so the only way to buy them will be through World of Assassination. Both games will still remain accessible for players who already own them.

As part of the change, Io is changing its DLC pricing structure. A $30 Deluxe Pack will grant players access to the Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack and Seven Deadly Sins Collection, as well as Hitman 2‘s expansion pass. If purchasing the collection on Steam, players will only pay for whatever DLC they don’t already have. If they have two of the three, for instance, they’ll only pay $10. Other platforms will add each DLC as a standalone listing for $10 each.

The change should hopefully be a positive one for fans overall, retroactively giving Hitman 3 players access to the first two games in the series. Though the delisting of those two titles in favor of a $70 package is sure to raise some concerns among those who are critical of the industry’s recent software price hike.

Hitman: World of Assassination will be available on January 26.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR turned me into a sociopath (and I love it)
Ezio sneaks up on a guard with a crossbow in Assassin's Creed Nexus VR.

I’ve done a lot of memorable things in VR this year. I’ve climbed mountains, commanded hundreds of tiny people, and even paddled through the seas in a kayak. With Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, I get to add another virtual feat to that list: I’ve jumped down on top of an unsuspecting guard and plunged a hidden blade into his throat with pinpoint accuracy. And I’m a little worried about how delighted I am by that.

Ubisoft has been a long-time supporter of VR going back to early standouts like Eagle Flight, but Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR finds the publisher making its full leap of faith into the tech. It’s not another virtual “experience” based on one of its popular IPs, but rather a full-throated Assassin’s Creed game with just about everything you’d expect in its console counterpart. There’s sneaking, parkour, lock picking, pickpocketing, death-defying leaps, and even a wealth of collectibles hidden in small-scale recreations of historical locations. All that’s missing is the open-world glut -- and that’s arguably its best quality.

There's no specific release date yet, but Larian's tweet reveals when we'll learn more. "We’ll see you at The Game Awards for the World Premiere of the exact release date," the developer teased. Geoff Keighley's video game award show takes place every December and is always full of announcements in addition to awards. The show is shaping up to be a big one for Baldur's Gate 3, as it's nominated in nine categories -- including Game of the Year and Best RPG -- and will have its December release date revealed there.

One of the best sci-fi games ever made is coming to Nintendo Switch next month
Scene in Outer Wilds where they sit around campfire

During the November 2023 Indie World Showcase, it was revealed that many intriguing indie titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch over the next year. One of the show's biggest announcements was that Outer Wilds -- a critically acclaimed sci-fi game about exploring a solar system throughout repeating time loops -- is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch next month.

A Nintendo Switch port for Outer Wilds was first teased in 2021 and intended to be released during the summer of that year, but it did not make that release window. We did not hear much else about the port until now outside of a mention during one of publisher Annapurna Interactive's own showcases. An Indie World Showcase segment dedicated to the game showed some of its physics-based spacefaring gameplay in action on the Switch, and it seemed to look nice and run at a solid frame rate. Called Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition, this version of the game comes with the Echoes of the Eye DLC and will launch digitally on December 7. It will get a physical Switch release sometime next year.
