How to play Grand Theft Auto games through Netflix

While Netflix is known first and foremost as a movie and TV streaming service, it has also been building a catalog of games its subscribers can access. The library of titles has been growing over the years, and finally scored a big payday by adding Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy. This package contains three of the most influential open-world games of all time: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, all originally released on the PlayStation 2 and enhanced for modern audiences.

How to play Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy on Netflix

The only two requirements to access Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy and any other game through Netflix are to have an active subscription and the Netflix App on either a phone or tablet device. These will need to run iOS 15 or later or Android 8.0 or later. Unfortunately, as of now at least, there’s no way to play Netflix games directly on your TV.

On your device of choice, open the Netflix app and either scroll down to the Mobile Games row or hit the Games tab. Find whichever title you want to play, tap it, and select Install to begin downloading the game. Each game in the trilogy will be listed separately, so you can pick which one (or all) you want to download. Once complete, just open the game and begin playing.

You can also download the titles by searching for them directly in the App or Play stores. Just search for the title you want and download it as normal. Note that this method still requires you to have both a Netflix subscription and the app, as the games will appear in the Games section of the app even when downloaded this way.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is unaffected by the video game voice actors strike

A lot of games will be affected by the SAG-AFTRA video game actors strike, but one of the most anticipated games of the next few years isn't one of them. In a statement to Kotaku, it was confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 isn't impacted by the strike.

“I can confirm GTA 6 is exempt,” a spokesperson for the publishers named in ongoing conversations said. The publication also learned that any games that were in development before September 2023 are unaffected, since that's when the union voted to authorize the strike.

This has been a particularly great year for puzzle games. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes and the recent remake of Riven offer up some mind-bending puzzles to solve, while games like Isles of Sea and Sky and Mars After Midnight find an innovative gameplay conceit and explore the concept to its fullest. The latter type of puzzle game I described tends to be more appealing to me, and a new game launching this week checked off all the right boxes for me. Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure from developer Furniture & Mattress is coming to PC, PlayStation, and Switch on July 25, but you can play it on mobile at no extra charge if you're a Netflix subscriber.

Arranger is a grid-based puzzle game where the world is made up of tiles, and players slide them around as they move. It's one of those genius gameplay concepts that has existed in bits and pieces in other games, but has never been explored to its fullest like this before. Arranger does just that while telling a coming-of-age story that emotionally ties back into that gameplay mechanic. It's my favorite puzzle game in a year that has already been outstanding for the genre, and a must-play for fans of the genre.
Putting the right pieces into place
Arranger creates the perfect setup for a game where players must arrange and move tiles. It's a coming-of-age story about a girl named Jemma who was abandoned and left to grow up in a village when she was younger. Unlike the people around her, she can see and move the world, which is split up into floor tiles. That causes issues. Everyone in her hometown seems to want her to leave, and she does so after accidentally awakening some static, a mysterious, controlling substance, in a cave right outside of town. Throughout Arranger, Jemma explores the outside world and learns more about her origins and why this static has overtaken the world.
