Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is arriving on PC on May 16, and it’s coming with a new PlayStation overlay. This will allow PC players to log in or create a PlayStation account and access many features found on the console, including earning trophies.

Announced via the PlayStation Blog, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut‘s PC release will be the first PlayStation game that implements the PlayStation overlay feature. This optional screen can be accessed through an in-game menu or keyboard shortcut to view your existing friends list, trophies, settings, and profile. This will be the first game in which PC players can earn PlayStation Trophies in addition to Steam and Epic Games Achievements.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will share a trophy list with the PS5 version of the game, meaning that players who have already earned some or all of the trophies on the console version cannot earn them for a second time on PC.

Released a little over a year after the base game, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut includes the Iki Island expansion and the multiplayer Legends mode, which will both be available in the PC version. While Legends mode does support full crossplay between PC, PS4, and PS5, PC players will be required to sign in to a PlayStation Network account to access it. The use of the overlay, however, is completely optional for both single-player and multiplayer modes.

There was no mention of whether previous PC releases of PlayStation titles, such as God of War, the Horizon titles, or Spider-Man games would be updated to receive this overlay functionality.

You can pre-purchase Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on Steam and Epic Games Store before its May 16 release.

Ghost of Yotei: release date window, trailers, gameplay, and more
A samurai stares at a mountain.

Ghost of Tsushima was an outstanding game to end the PS4 generation with. Sucker Punch chose to pivot to a new IP far divorced from its past Infamous or Sly Cooper games and focus on a more grounded and historically influenced game about the Mongol invasion of the island of Tsushima. Naturally, we all expected a continuation of the story since that was just one small component of that conflict. Indeed a sequel will be an upcoming video game, but not in the way we all expected. Ghost of Yotei has been revealed and is making some big changes, but also holding true to what Sucker Punch believes to be the core of the series. Similar to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Marvel's Wolverine, we have a lot left to discover about this new game. Let's follow the wind together to find out all we can about this upcoming PS5 game.

There's a chance Ghost of Yotei will also be an upcoming PC game, but you won't find it on a list of upcoming Xbox Series X games or upcoming Switch games.

Ghost of Yotei brings Ghost of Tsushima to a new setting next year
A samurai stands in front of a mountain in Ghost of Yotei.

During the September 2024 State of Play presentation, Sucker Punch Productions announced Ghost of Yotei, a follow-up to 2020's Ghost of Tsushima. It'll be coming to the PlayStation 5 sometime in 2025.

The game follows a new female hero named Atsu and takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The setting is Mount Yotei, which is part of Ezo, now known as Hokkaido. In 1603, Mount Yotei was outside of Japan's rule, and it features a vast array of different environments including grasslands and tundra. The story also seems to shy away from the organized samurai clans that were in Tsushima, but no other story details were provided.

Don’t expect PlayStation to abandon consoles for PCs any time soon
A PS5 sits on a table with a DualSense standing up next to it.

Sony has recently had a lot of success publishing its first-party PlayStation 5 games to PC, but that doesn't mean the company is going to become a PC company first.

In an interview with Japanese publication Nikkei (via Video Games Chronicle), Hideaki Nishino, head of Sony Interactive Entertainment's Platform Business Group, said that that Sony will continue to make content for PCs, but "there is no doubt" that consoles will continue to be the priority.
