Activision Blizzard, which is now owned by Microsoft, has just confirmed that the next Call of Duty game is titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. There’s been one major point of contention ahead of this year’s Call of Duty: Will it be on Xbox Game Pass at launch? A new report from The Wall Street Journal suggests that is the case.

Historically, Microsoft has added all its first-party games from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda to Game Pass the day they launched. That applies to big AAA releases like Starfield, as well as more experimental titles like 2022’s Pentiment and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, which came out this week. Microsoft’s public messaging thus far has teased that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will come to the Xbox Game Pass. That said, Microsoft has not officially confirmed it, so there have been conflicting reports on this actually being the case.

In the wake of Bethesda’s closures of Arkane Austin, Mighty Dog Games, and Tango Gameworks, a report from The Verge claimed that Microsoft has “had internal debates about whether to put new releases of Call of Duty into Game Pass” because some people at the company think that “revenue that Call of Duty typically generates for Activision Blizzard will be undermined by Game Pass.” A new The Wall Street Journal report suggests those internal debates have been settled, and claims that Microsoft plans on “releasing the coming installment of Call of Duty to its subscription service instead of the longtime, lucrative approach of only selling it à la carte.”

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long for an answer. Microsoft has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will get a dedicated Direct following its Xbox Games Showcase next month, with The Wall Street Journal also claiming that its Xbox Game Pass announcement will come during that show.

Metal Slug Tactics is an arcade reimagining worth playing on Game Pass
Key art for Metal Slug Tactics.

I was not expecting the Metal Slug franchise to transition to the strategy game genre as well as it did.

SNK’s classic action-platformer arcade series is a high-energy, bombastic shoot 'em up perfect for quick hits of destructive gaming goodness. Strategy games are inherently much slower-paced than Metal Slug typically was, so I wasn’t sure if Leikir Studio and Dotemu could effectively make the genre jump with this franchise. I’m happy to be proven wrong.

Do your dailies

We'll get the most obvious tip out of the way first. Daily challenges are back and work just as they always have. Every 24 hours you will be given a handful of small optional tasks to complete for a heap of bonus XP. These can be things like getting Scorestreak kills, getting Point Blank Kills, and getting kills with a specific weapon type. Most daily challenges are worth 2,500 XP, which is already a nice bonus, but there is also a fourth one that can be worth between 3,000 and 5,000 additional XP. Each day you log on, you should prioritize your daily challenges.
