The Division Resurgence: everything we know so far

With news that The Division 3 is in development, it’s understandable that some fans of Ubisoft’s third-person shooter franchise may have overlooked an upcoming spinoff that’s set to launch sometime this year. The Division Resurgence is a free-to-play mobile entry in the series that will bring all of the same thrills and kills to a much smaller screen. While you’re waiting for this next outing (and all of the loot waiting within), take a look at what we know so far about The Division Resurgence.

Release date

The Division Resurgence does not have an exact release date quite yet. The game has been delayed multiple times, but Ubisoft has stated that players can now expect to get their hands on it at some point in late 2024.

Recommended Videos

It’s likely we’ll at least get some type of news on the game and its current release window at Ubisoft Forward 2024 on June 10, but only time will tell.

Platforms

As it’s strictly a mobile game, The Division Resurgence will launch on iOS and Android. While it’s always possible that a mobile game will receive a PC or console port at some point, we wouldn’t recommend getting your hopes up. With The Division 3 set to be the next big drop in the franchise for those platforms, Ubisoft likely wouldn’t want such a similar title competing in that space.

Multiplayer

As expected, The Division Resurgence will feature both PVE and PVP multiplayer. There will be no shortage of loot for everyone to work toward together on missions, but that’s not all that is in store for fans. Unlike the previous two games, where the PvEvP area was open for players to enter and leave at will, The Division Resurgence‘s Dark Zone is session-based. This means you’ll have to queue up and enter the area with 19 other players to see who will extract with the best loot — and who will be left wanting.

Trailers

The Division Resurgence has received a few trailers showing off some of its gameplay and features. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, but the trailers have at least proven that the experience players are used to will be alive and well even in a mobile-only format.

The game’s first trailer showcased a brief glimpse at gameplay and a streamlined UI that should assist with the game’s mobile limitations.

Meanwhile, another trailer has given us a look at the Dark Zone in The Division Resurgence, an area of the map that most players will recognize as a location that blends tense PVE and PVP combat.

Preorder

Since The Division Resurgence is free to play, you don’t really need to preorder the game in the traditional sense. However, you can register for The Division Resurgence closed beta on the game’s official website.

The Witcher 4: everything we know so far

When talking about the best RPGs you can play right now, The Witcher 3 is going to be brought up. In fact, odds are that it will even appear in most people's best games of all time list, and for good reason. Inspired by the book series of the same name, the first Witcher game is one of the best PC games, and has now become a household name thanks to the success of the Netflix show. However, after the third game, CD Projekt Red moved on to Cyberpunk 2077, and we were left wondering if we'd tossed our last coin to the Witcher.

It seems there are still more stories to tell in the Witcher universe, with multiple upcoming video game projects in the works. The most interesting, of course, is the next step in the story with The Witcher IV. We've taken our potions, oiled up our blades, and are ready to hunt down all the information we know so far about this highly anticipated upcoming game.

Everything we know about Control 2
Jesse from Control stands in front of a red backdrop.

Alan Wake 2 was the game that fully connected the entire Remedy universe, but it all started with Control. Set in The Oldest House, home of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Jesse Faden became the new director as she used her transforming gun and powers to defeat the Hiss. A DLC chapter connected her with Alan Wake, and now another piece of DLC for Alan Wake 2 has shifted the focus back on the FBC. Control 2 is the next chapter of this dark and paranormal story unlike anything else on our list of upcoming video games. It will still be a while before we return to the world of altered items of objects of power, so thankfully we have games like Civilization VII and Assassin's Creed Shadows to hold us over, but there's nothing that can scratch that specific itch Control did. This is our declassified document on everything we know about Control 2.

If you're still on the lookout for the best upcoming PS5 games, we've got you covered there too.
