Beyond Good & Evil fans might not have any news on the long-in-development prequel, but a 20th Anniversary Edition is set to launch next week.

Ubisoft announced the official release of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition during the Limited Run Games showcase on Thursday. It’ll be launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 25.

Along with allowing players to replay the original, the 20th Anniversary Edition will feature new content, including a reorchestrated soundtrack, a new treasure hunt, and an anniversary photo gallery. To go along with this current generation of consoles, players will be able to experience it in 4K at 60 frames per second.

The physical editions by Limited Run Games are now available for preorder and will be released on July 12.

This new “real” announcement comes after a post from the game’s X account, which teased that it would be unveiled during the Limited Run Games showcase on Thursday. While the showcase reveal was the official one, many outlets (thanks Gematsu) noted that Ubisoft posted about it on X (formerly Twitter) before removing it earlier Thursday. We suspect the post was accidentally published early, but we expected the full reveal will be during the presentation.

There have been plenty of other signs that the 20th anniversary edition was incoming this week. Video Games Chronicle reported last week that PlayStation trophies for the game started appearing on Exophase, an online achievement tracker. The outlet also found that the original Beyond Good & Evil was delisted from Steam and the Xbox Store (although it’s still available on GOG at the time of this writing).

Ubisoft previously announced the release in November, saying that it would “talk more about this special edition soon … Stay tuned!” This was after the discoveries of achievements and an ESRB rating. Social media account Wario64 even spotted that the 20th Anniversary Edition store page was live, with the game even briefly available for a time. So ,you could say we’ve known about this game for a long while.

It isn’t Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is still reportedly in development after being announced in 2018 and has been the subject of multiple delays, however.

Everything we know about Beyond Good and Evil 2
beyond good and evil 2 release date trailer gameplay story news featured

Final Fantasy XV, Duke Nukem Forever, and Alien: Colonial Marines all endured "development hell," announced years (and sometimes decades) before launching, and undergoing multiple iterations and restarts during development. Although many of these games have released, there's one big title still stuck in limbo: Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Going on 13 years of development -- some of which weren't spent on active development -- Beyond Good and Evil 2 is, unfortunately, still a few years away. In the meantime, here's what we know about the release date, pre-orders, multiplayer, and more.

3 underrated PS Plus games to check out this weekend (June 28-30)
Key art for Matterfall from Housemarque and Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Some games don't get the love they deserve when they come out. Maybe it's because they launched during a crowded time of year, weren't in a mainstream genre, or had negative public perception as they headed toward release. These games become underrated cult classics and can gain new life and attention on subscription services like Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, where players have more control over which games they play, how long they want to play them, and how much money they want to spend on them.

That's why I looked to these underrated games when determining what PS Plus Premium and Extra game catalog games to recommend this weekend. One is an exhilarating shoot 'em up platformer hybrid from the developers of Returnal. Another is the Marvel strategy game and RPG from the studio that makes series like Sid Meier's Civilization and XCOM. Finally, we have an enjoyable LittleBigPlanet spinoff that seemed like it flew under the radar more than every other PlayStation 5 launch title.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage delayed because of Life is Strange: Double Exposure
A girl holds a camera in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage.

Don't Nod decided to delay its narrative adventure game Lost Records: Bloom & Rage to early 2025 in the wake of Life is Strange: Double Exposure's announcement and imminent launch this October.

For those out of the loop, Don't Nod created the Life is Strange series with Square Enix. Although Don't Nod moved on from the series after Life is Strange 2, neither party involved stopped making narrative adventure games. Don't Nod went on to make Tell Me Why in 2020, and some Life is Strange alumni formed a new Don't Nod studio in Montreal that same year to create the Lost Records franchise.
