The Final Fantasy VII remake isn’t going to happen any time soon. The most famous entry in Square-Enix’s long running role-playing series is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, but that doesn’t mean the longed for HD remake of the game is in production. Square’s CEO Yoichi Wada is committed to besting that game before he gets around to remaking it for a new generation how will hardcore Cloud and Sephiroth fans celebrate this milestone year for Final Fantasy VII though? With a new hardbound Final Fantasy VII encyclopedia.

Jeauxvideo 24 (via NeoGAF) highlighted the result of three years of hard work on behalf of two French authors. The 320-page encyclopedia is an impressive paean to the classic, with stories about the behind the scenes development of the game as well as a chronological overview of the game’s universe, including its spin-offs like Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Advent Children, Before Crisis, and Dirge of Cerberus. The book is published by Pix’n Love.
