GAMESCOM Opening Night Live 2024 ONL: Official Livestream (Tuesday, August 20, 11a PT/2p ET/8p CEST)
Summer Gaming Marathon Feature Image
This story is part of our Summer Gaming Marathon series.

While June may be the busiest month for video game showcases, the summer doesn’t truly end until Gamescom Opening Night Live. The annual live stream, which kicks off the Gamescom convention in Germany, has become the biggest gaming show outside of Summer Game Fest. That’s no coincidence considering that Geoff Keighley hosts both. This year’s Opening Night Live was a major one, with over 60 reveals across the two-hour show (and a half hour pre-show beforehand).

Borderlands 4 gets a dramatic reveal

Borderlands 4 - Official Teaser Trailer

Borderlands 4 got a grand reveal with a dramatic teaser trailer. We saw realistic video of planets crashing and burning before we got a glimpse at an iconic raider mask. Dying Light: The Beast is unleashed

After its teaser ahead of Gamescom, we got a look at a new Dying Light game called Dying Light: The Beast. The trailer showed some familiar first-person gameplay, with lots of parkour and zombie murder. It’s an entirely new game set in an open world rather than a spinoff. Keighley notes that it will be around 20 hours long, making it a bit shorter than your average Dying Light game.

Starfield: Official REV-8 Trailer

We finally know when Starfield: Shattered Space is coming. The expansion will launch on September 30. That date was revealed in a new gameplay trailer that showed off its darker, supernatural tone. Indiana jones buried in the sand.

Xbox has had a rough year. From the divisive reactions to its multiplatform plans to layoffs and the shuttering of lauded studios like Tango Gameworks, there hasn't been much of a reason to be excited for Xbox recently. Microsoft is hoping to change that on Sunday as it will hold its annual Xbox Games Showcase to give us a glimpse at titles coming from its first-party studios and third-party partners over the course of the next year or two.

It's even holding a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct right after. If you're an Xbox fan, this is obviously an event that you need to tune into. To help with that, we've rounded up everything you need to know about where and when to watch 2024's Xbox Games Showcase and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, as well as what your expectations for the presentation should be.
When is the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct
The 2024 Xbox Games Showcase will begin at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday, June 9. The Black Ops 6 Direct will begin immediately after that multigame showcase concludes. Although Microsoft has not committed to an exact start time for that Direct, the Xbox Games Showcase has historically lasted anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.
