Black Ops 6 isn’t the only Activision Blizzard game coming to Xbox Game Pass this month

It’s October, which means it’s Call of Duty season for Xbox and Activision. So expectedly, Xbox Game Pass’ offerings for the second half of the month into November are all about Activision Blizzard.

October 25 is the big day for Call of Duty fans. The next entry in the shooter series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, is hitting cloud, console, and PC for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. Modern Warfare 3, which was the first Call of Duty game added to the service in July, is also specifically coming to Xbox Cloud Gaming on October 25, along with Call of Duty Warzone.

A lot of what’s coming to Black Ops 6 is standard Call of Duty fare: new multiplayer maps, Zombies mode, and a single-player campaign. However, developer Treyarch and Raven Software have added a new movement system called Omnimovement, which allows the player to spring into action in every direction. Players will also get the old Prestige system back for progression, along with a fully customizable HUD.

Activision announced Tuesday that preloading begins at 9 a.m. PT on October 21. It’ll roll out on PC from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. PT.

Xbox Game Pass will also get StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection on PC for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers on November 5. Players can still use Battle.net to play the multiplayer for free, but with Game Pass, the single-player campaigns — including all the expansions — have been upgraded with 4K and widescreen support.

If you’re not into Call of Duty or StarCraft, there are (surprisingly) other games coming to Game Pass in the last half of October. You can check out the full list below.

Xbox Game Pass’ new Standard tier is missing some big games

Players are digging into Xbox Game Pass now that the company has officially launched its new Xbox Game Pass Standard tier. However, they've discovered that it's missing quite a few noteworthy titles, including some that were already on the service before Xbox switched to its new payment structure.

Xbox published a post on September 10 marking the move, and explaining its new Game Pass plans in a succinct manner. Want to just use your Xbox for multiplayer? Grab Game Pass Core. Just want games on your PC? Get PC Game Pass. Game Pass Standard, arguably the most confusing new tier of the bunch when it was announced back in July, is for people who want to "level up [their] Xbox console gaming experience at a great value." It costs $15 per month compared to Ultimate's $20 per month (up from $17).

Overwatch 2 is now on Xbox Game Pass, and it comes with perks
Overwatch 2 skins: Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship D.Va, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver

Blizzard Entertainment surprise dropped Overwatch 2 on Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday, despite the game being free to play and already on Xbox.

You might find this to be a strange addition, but as a Blizzard blog post specifies, this is more about encouraging players to link their Battle.net and Xbox accounts. As a reward, players that do so will receive six exclusive skins: Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship D.Va, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver. (The image of a Reinhardt in a cardboard suit is delightful.) Players will also get 30 Mythic Prisms that they can use in the Mythic Shop for other skins.

Will Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 be cross-platform?
A player holds a dead player as a body shield in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Despite not every game in the franchise being one of the best Call of Duty games, entries are always among the bestselling games of the year. Thankfully,  Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 looks like it will be a return to form for the iconic shooter franchise, especially when it comes to multiplayer. With competition in the shooter space being more fierce than ever thanks to free games like Apex Legends and XDefiant, Black Ops 6 will need to make sure it doesn't give players any reason to skip it. One major pothole it needs to avoid is not being a cross-platform game and only letting players compete with others on their own systems. This is the first entry released since Activision was purchased by Xbox, and while it will still come out on all platforms, will Xbox shut off cross-platform support? Here's what we know about Black Ops 6 cross-platform support.
Will Black Ops 6 be cross-platform?

Just like previous installments in the franchise, including Warzone, Black Ops 6 will feature full cross-platform support when it launches on October 25 based on the beta, which includes the feature. This includes PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC players who will all be able to connect and battle together. Just like in the beta, however, you will be able to disable crossplay if you so desire.
