October 24 is going to be a big day for OnePlus fans

OnePlus will launch the latest version of its smartphone software, OxygenOS 15, on October 24. It is based on Android 15 and follows several months of Android 15 beta releases that began in May after the Google I/O developer conference and which were made available on various OnePlus devices.

Paired with the tagline of “Speed and AI,” the company says the software will be “equipped with industry-leading Fast&Smooth experience, meaningful new AI features, and a distinctive design style that highlights OnePlus’ personality. OxygenOS 15 is set to be the fastest and most user-friendly OxygenOS ever.”

OnePlus isn’t giving too much away about OxygenOS 15 at this stage, but one interesting change to look out for concerns Android’s animations. OnePlus says it has used software algorithms to reconstruct Android’s animations so they appear even smoother. It’s keeping quiet about its AI features too, saying only that they will focus on productivity and creativity.

What isn’t being said at this stage is when OxygenOS 15 will be released, which phones it will be available for, and how long it will take to reach them. It’s safe to assume the OnePlus 12, OnePlus Open, and OnePlus Open Apex Edition will be among the first to get it, with the OnePlus 12R likely to follow soon after. In a post shared on the OnePlus community forum, it stated that the road map for release will also be shared during the launch event.

A heavy metal band has made a song about a OnePlus phone

OnePlus, never one to shy away from a crazy promo opportunity, has teamed up with Finnish heavy metal monsters Lordi for its latest collaboration. However, it’s not a smartphone, a smartwatch, or a concert. It’s a song inspired by the recently launched OnePlus Nord 4, which, as you may already know, is Made of Metal.

Why the capitalization? That’s because Made of Metal is also the name of Lordi’s song, complete with the chorus, “Never Settle, Made of Metal.” Yes, that’s more deliberate capitalization, as Never Settle is OnePlus’ tagline, which also conveniently rhymes with “metal,” making the lyricist's job nice and easy when told it had to be included somewhere in the song.

The OnePlus Open is about to get a striking update

OnePlus isn’t waving a white flag in the face of Samsung and the Galaxy Z Fold 6; it’s waving a red one with the launch of the OnePlus Open Apex Edition. The newly announced OnePlus folding phone comes in a stunning new color called Crimson Shadow, a hue the company says pays homage to an old Hasselblad camera.

Made from vegan leather, the Crimson Shadow's red rear panel joins an orange Alert Slider to give the OnePlus Open a striking and very “Hasselblad” look. The camera it takes inspiration from was part of a limited-run series of Hasselblad cameras released in 2008 that commemorated 60 years of the company, as well as its partnership with lens maker Carl Zeiss. With only 60 models released in the lineup, they are now highly sought by collectors. At the time of this writing, a Hasselblad 503CW Victor Red Edition is on eBay for $9,200.

The OnePlus Pad 2 has specifications and a range of accessories that put the Google Pixel Tablet to shame. OnePlus’ latest Android tablet not only has the top Qualcomm processor inside and a massive screen, but you can also buy a keyboard case and a stylus for it — making it far more versatile than Google’s tablet.

Let's get into some details. The OnePlus Pad 2 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 12GB of RAM inside its 6.49mm-thick all-metal unibody, which weighs 584 grams. On the sides of the tablet are six speakers for high-resolution audio, and on the back is a circular camera module with a 13-megapixel camera at the top center of the otherwise flat rear panel.
