Upon booting up The Lake House DLC for Alan Wake 2, it doesn’t take long before you’re given a puzzle. Released alongside the game’s anniversary update, The Lake House has you step into agent Kieran Estevez’s shoes as she investigates the story behind one of the Federal Bureau of Control’s research facilities.

Before Estevez can even venture down into the Lake House, you must acquire the proper keycard. And to do that, you’ll have to figure out a six-digit code for a computer. Any Alan Wake 2 fan will know these puzzles well, and they’re not always the easiest to figure out, so here’s how to get the elevator keycard.

Elevator keycard computer password solution in Alan Wake 2: The Lake House

After realizing you must use a keycard with the proper clearance to use the elevator in Alan Wake 2: The Lake House, head into the large office right near the elevator. You’ll need access to the computer, and the clues to its six-digit password are scattered across the room. To make the search easier for you, the computer password for the Lake House elevator is 071838.

How did we come up with this solution? Well, start by checking the document to the left of the computer. You’ll spot a printed document explaining how the company has advised everyone to change the password daily. They recommend using a permanent set of digits for the start of the password, followed by numbers you change daily.

Following that, it said to use significant personal dates and not birthdays or the current date, so that ruled out the September 14 date you can see on the calendar to the right. But don’t ignore the calendar, because the science fact of the day mentions the number 38, which is used at the end of the password.

To find the first four digits of this password, leave the desk and walk to the bookshelf. There, you’ll see three items to inspect. The only important one is the letter on the bottom right that details the facility’s completion date, which was July 18. In numbers, that is 0718, so putting the entire password together looks like 071838.

After unlocking the computer, you can unlock the door through its security system. Leave the office, then head to the other side of the room with the once-locked door. Now that it’s unlocked, head inside and grab the elevator keycard. With that over with, the rest of the Lake House awaits you.

Alan Wake 2 studio is rebooting its upcoming multiplayer project
Saga fights off a Taken in Alan Wake 2.

Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind October's critically acclaimed survival horror game Alan Wake 2, revealed that it is reworking what was previously a free-to-play multiplayer game into a premium cooperative title.

While Remedy made a name for itself with trippy, narrative-focused single-player franchises like Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Control, a multiplayer project code-named Vanguard has been in the works at the Finnish studio since at least 2018. In 2021, Remedy announced that it partnered with Tencent to make and distribute the game, which was described as "a free-to-play, co-operative PvE shooter that combines Remedy’s narrative expertise and action gameplay into an immersive multiplayer experience." As recently as a financial report last month, Remedy said that Vanguard was still in the "proof-of-concept stage" and that it was working with Tencent on "defining the next stages of the project."

All Lunchbox locations in Alan Wake 2
Saga finding a lunchbox in the forest.

Collectibles are nothing new to the Alan Wake series. The first game's primary trinkets you would be scrounging around for were coffee thermoses, but those now serve as save spots in Alan Wake 2. What replaces them are several new types, such as Cult Stashes and Nursery Rhymes, but those are more puzzles than pure collectibles. The Alex Casey Lunchboxes are pure, hidden objects that just need to be found to unlock -- no puzzles or keys required. Aside from the trophy/achievement you get for finding them all, what they hold inside is more than worth the effort of collecting them. No, it isn't someone's leftover sandwich, but precious Manuscript Fragments required to upgrade Saga's guns. We've all lost track of Lunchboxes in the past, so here is where you can find them all in Alan Wake 2.
