Before he went on to star in FX’s Justified, Timothy Olyphant played Agent 47 in Hitman, an adaptation of the blockbuster video game franchise. The Organization trained 47 to be one of the best assassins in the world, and eventually sent him to kill Russia’s President Mikhail Belicoff (Ulrich Thomsen). Soon after, 47 is called upon to murder Belicoff’s mistress, Nika Boronina (Olga Kurylenko), because she supposedly witnessed his crime.

When Nika doesn’t recognize 47, he realizes that he’s been framed and used to install someone in power who has stolen Belicoff’s identity. Now, 47 and Nina find themselves on the run from both Russia’s FSB and Interpol, including Agent Mike Whittier (Dougray Scott), who has been looking for 47 for years.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets (2007)

Ed Harris and Nicolas Cage in National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
Walt Disney Pictures

How do you follow stealing the Declaration of Independence to find a hidden treasure map? For Benjamin Franklin Gates (Longlegs star Nicolas Cage), the answer lies in clearing the name of his ancestor, Thomas Gates (Joel Gretsch). As established in National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Thomas broke a code for John Wilkes Booth (Christian Camargo) before he assassinated President Lincoln in the last days of the Civil War. Thomas didn’t initially realize Booth’s intent, and he was branded a traitor for his actions.

In the present, Gates encounters a black market dealer, Mitch Wilkinson (Ed Harris), who provides him with the last surviving page from Thomas Gates’ code. This puts Gates and his father, Patrick Henry Gates (Jon Voight), on a new quest to follow the clues and uncover the secrets that have been hidden for over a century. And they aren’t the only ones looking for them …

The Predator (2018)

Olivia Munn in The Predator.
20th Century Studios

Normally, a Shane Black movie would be set at Christmas, but he broke his own tradition with The Predator. Olivia Munn stars as Casey Brackett, a biologist whose theories about extraterrestrial life are proven when government agent Will Traeger (Sterling K. Brown) recruits her to examine a captive Predator. Meanwhile, Traeger has also imprisoned Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook), an Army Ranger who narrowly survived his encounter with the creature. Quinn even mailed the Predator’s helmet to himself as proof of its existence before his capture.

Unfortunately for the humans, the captive Predator doesn’t take long to remedy his situation. In the aftermath of the Predator’s escape, Quinn and Casey align with a group of ex-military misfits called the Loonies — including Coyle (Keegan-Michael Key) and Baxley (Thomas Jane). And they had better move fast, because the Predator is now after Quinn’s son, Rory (Jacob Tremblay), after the kid found and used the Predator’s helmet with his Halloween costume.

The 50 best shows on Netflix in November 2024
The cast of Cobra Kai.

For a streamer that made its name on binge-watching, Netflix has really embraced the split-season model this year. That's why we have fresh episodes of Arcane this weekend, as well as new episodes of Cobra Kai. That Karate Kid sequel series has proven to be so popular that it's bound to hit No. 1 on the list of the most popular shows on Netflix now that Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 has arrived.

Netflix has also just added A.P. Bio, a sitcom that previously ran on NBC and Peacock. This is a show that never achieved the popularity it needed to last longer than four seasons. But if any streamer can revive interest in this series, it's Netflix.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie in Focus.

As we've often seen before, unexpected films from the past suddenly rise to the top of the list of the most popular movies on Netflix. This week, the movie in question is Focus, a 2015 crime dramedy starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie. Although Focus didn't clean up at the box office, when two of the biggest stars appear together in the same movie, it tends to get noticed on Netflix.

The first six Fast and Furious films have also arrived on Netflix, which should make action lovers very happy. For this week, we're putting the spotlight on Fast Five because it's one of the best in the series, and it also featured the first face-off between Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Netflix is also currently having a lot of success with the action rom-com The Lost City, as well as other recent arrivals, including Oblivion and Kung Fu Panda 4. You can find those films and more in our complete roundup of the best movies on Netflix right now.

The best movies on Amazon Prime Video (November 2024)
Ivana Baquero in Pan's Labyrinth.

Freevee may be going away, but Amazon Prime Video has always had a deeper library of hit movies to draw upon than its "free" streaming service. Even in slow weeks like this one, Prime Video still has movies like Pan's Labyrinth and Galaxy Quest to fall back on. Those are two very different films, but both are fantastic examples of their respective fantasy and sci-fi/comedy genres.

Prime Video is pretty action-heavy this month, with Mark Wahlberg's Infinite inexplicably hanging on near the top of the movie charts alongside another Prime Video original, Canary Black. Romance lovers may find more to like in My Old Ass or Silver Linings Playbook. Regardless of your tastes, this list of the best movies on Amazon Prime Video right now has something waiting for you.
