It seems more companies are jumping into the Micro Four Thirds bed with Panasonic and Olympus. Lens maker Tamron has announced that they are developing a 14-150mm zoom lens (equivalent to 28-300mm in the 35mm/full-frame format) for the MFT camera system, Tamron’s first. Along with Sigma’s new MFT lenses and companies like Kodak and Polaroid releasing MFT cameras, the Micro Four Thirds sector of mirrorless cameras is off to a great start in 2013.
The 14-150mm F/3.5-5.8 Di III VC (Model C001) lens is equipped with Tamron’s VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism to allow for handheld shooting in low-light situations or any occasion where a steady hand is needed. In addition, an optimized stepping motor provides quiet and accurate auto focusing. The lens has a 52mm filter diameter and comes with a flower-shaped lens hood. Tamron says the lens will be available in two finishes (black and silver) to match the popular cameras utilizing the MFT system. All this comes in a compact 3.2 inch, 9.8-ounce package.
