E3 2013 is coming soon, promising closer looks at Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Next Xbox, and the many, many games that people will play on those machines. While titles like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Bungie’s Destiny, and Thief have already been announced for those machines – or “PS4 and other next-gen consoles” as is often the official case – people are still ravenous for information on what else is on the horizon. Titan may be the name for one of those anticipated games. That’s not a reference to Blizzard’s long-rumored new MMO, either. Titan may be the first next-gen game from the people that created Call of Duty.

Respawn Entertainment, the studio headed by Vincent Zampella and many of the other former members of Infinity Ward responsible for creating the Call of Duty series, filed a trademark for something called Titan on Thursday. As detailed by VG247, the trademark refers to “Video and computer game programs, video game discs, video game software.”

It’s been known since Zampella and his former partner Jason West – who left Respawn only recently – have been working with Electronic Arts on a new game series since the two left Activision in 2010. It was only in February that Zampella confirmed that the fruit of this collaboration with EA would be seen at E3 2013.

After days of speculation, Xbox confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will come to Xbox Game Pass at launch. Xbox has not specified which platforms it will come to, though.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was officially announced last week, fans immediately began speculating about its Game Pass status. It's the first Call of Duty title released since Microsoft successfully acquired Activision Blizzard, so a Game Pass launch seemed likely. While the announcement was initially leaked by a Game Pass notification, Xbox has now officially confirmed that the game is bound for the service.

Activision Blizzard, which is now owned by Microsoft, has just confirmed that the next Call of Duty game is titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. There's been one major point of contention ahead of this year's Call of Duty: Will it be on Xbox Game Pass at launch? A new report from The Wall Street Journal suggests that is the case.

Historically, Microsoft has added all its first-party games from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda to Game Pass the day they launched. That applies to big AAA releases like Starfield, as well as more experimental titles like 2022's Pentiment and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which came out this week. Microsoft's public messaging thus far has teased that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will come to the Xbox Game Pass. That said, Microsoft has not officially confirmed it, so there have been conflicting reports on this actually being the case.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is out to eliminate mobile gaming’s stigma
Gameplay from Call of Duty: Warzone mobile

Activision may be under new ownership at Xbox, but that’s not slowing down its flagship series. After a few years in development, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is finally launching worldwide under the Microsoft banner. It’s a major moment for the shooter series that’s endured multiple industry changes over its long lineage. The new mobile game is the latest evolution for Call of Duty, bringing a high-quality battle royale experience to phones.

The importance of that evolution isn’t lost on Chris Plummer, the co-head of mobile at Activision. In an interview with Digital Trends ahead of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile’s launch, Plummer painted a picture of how much has changed in the game industry since Call of Duty Mobile launched in 2019. An industry-shifting war between Epic Games and Apple, an enormous acquisition that’s turned Xbox into a mobile king, and a gradual shift in the general attitude towards mobile games -- all of that has led to this moment. Plummer believes that the old days of players bemoaning cash-grab mobile games are coming to an end. The industry just needed its killer app; he believes Warzone Mobile could be that game.
