FitStar updates Jane Fonda-style workouts for the App Age with NFL superstar Tony Gonzalez

tony-gonzalezAt age 37, Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez is coming off his sixth first team All-Pro campaign. He has missed just two games in 15 seasons. His 40s looming on the horizon, the Hall of Fame lock remains capable of racking nearly 1000 receiving yards.

With all that in mind, would you take fitness advice from Gonzalez? Of course you would. And now you can, thanks to the new FitStar: Tony Gonzalez, a venture between the legendary gridiron star and FitStar Labs http://fitstar.com/.

Upon downloading the app, your iPad (or Apple TV) becomes a private gym session with Gonzalez the trainer, as he leads personally-designed workouts – up to 80 in all – matched to an individual user’s needs. Personal information and fitness history is entered before a drop of sweat is released. Upon finishing, users can give positive or negative feedback, which will in turn determine the next session with Virtual Gonzalez. FitStar CEO and co-founder Mike Maser told USA Today a future version of the program may even allow for notes within the workout. It’s like a comment card, but with immediate results!

The basic FitStar: Tony Gonzalez program is free to download, and features a four week, twice-weekly 10-20 minute regimens. For a little extra dough, ambitious exercisers can reap even more benefits from having Gonzalez as a 2013 Jack LaLanne. Fees range from $2.99 -$7.99 and design regimens conducted anywhere from 3-6 days per week for up to 12 weeks. And because in the social media age, a workout conducted without the entire world knowing is like a dusty basement treadmill, the app also has an element incorporating Facebook and Twitter. Plus, no equipment is needed, allowing travelers to maintain their fitness with little more than the same tablet used to check Gonzalez’s stats in their fantasy football league. (Word to the wise, the rest of your Roto league will expect his age to be a big factor next year; it won’t be.)
