Want to get your hands on a Mac Pro that looks like a cross between a Beats Pill and a decorative piece you might find at Ikea? It’ll probably cost you, but at least its for a good cause.

Crafted by Apple Senior Vice President of Design Jony Ive and Marc Newson (Ive recently designed this Leica camera, as well), it has been speculated that this red Mac Pro will bring in between $40,000 to $60,000 when it is sold at auction. The auction is set to take place on November 23 at Sotheby’s in New York City and will be hosted by (RED), a charity run by Bono of U2 fame, which aims to rid the world of AIDS. What’s more, the official Twitter account for Bono’s charity revealed late last month that Apple contributed over $65 million to help the charity’s cause.

Official specs for the red Mac Pro have not been revealed. However, considering that, aside from external hue, this Mac Pro looks identical to the standard black Mac Pro which will be released sometime this December, it’s fair to at least use the standard version as a point of reference to give you an idea of what the red Mac Pro may come with. The base model $3,000 Mac Pro will sport a 3.7GHz Intel Xeon quad core processor, 12GB of RAM, Dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs and a 256GB PCIe SSD. The $4,000 Mac Pro will net you a six-core 3.5 GHz Intel Xeon processor, 16GB of RAM, a pair of AMD FirePro D500 graphics processors, and a 256GB PCIe SSD.

If you’re a high roller looking to spread some holiday cheer around, consider dropping by the auction next month.

Is the M4 Mac mini Apple’s first true gaming PC?
Mac Mini with M4

The M4 Mac mini made its big splash last week. Among the normal Apple marketing content, however, I noticed something I'd never seen before. It's the image above that I'm talking about -- and by now, you've probably noticed the same thing that caught my eye. The PS5 controller.

Sure, you've always been able to connect up a game controller and use it for Mac gaming, but never have I seen it promoted by Apple itself. By putting this so forward in the marketing materials, Apple is not-so-subtly implying that these are PCs that are at least to some degree built for gaming. Is this Apple's first true attempt at taking a real step into the world of PC gaming? There's more evidence than you might think.

The wait for a cheaper Vision Pro is going to be a long one
Apple Vision Pro

It looks like a more affordable take on the $3,500 Vision Pro mixed-reality headset has taken a backseat at Apple. In January this year, The Information reported that a lower-priced version with toned-down innards could arrive in 2025.

Now, renowned supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the pocket-friendly headset won’t be hitting the shelves within the next three years. “As I understand it, production of the cheaper Vision Pro has been delayed beyond 2027 for a while now,” Kuo wrote on X.
