You’re nobody in the tech market if you don’t sell a 7-inch Android tablet. Even non-tech retailers have such as Tesco and Argos have launched their own tablets ready for the Christmas rush. Now, a leak has shown Verizon could be planning to launch one too, under the name of the Verizon Ellipsis 7.

A leaked image shows a fairly standard tablet with a sizable bezel around the screen, a forward-facing camera lens, and some super Verizon branding. According to the tweet’s text, this is a 2013 model, suggesting it won’t be long until the covers are taken off the device officially. It could be just in time for the annual holiday buying frenzy, but what will make it standout in such a crowded market?

The name could offer us some clues, as Verizon may have chosen it because the tablet will have a modular design. At the end of October, a Verizon trademark filing hinted it was preparing a device such as a phone, tablet, computer or other device which connects to a wireless network under the Ellipsis name.

Then, a reference to the Ellipsis 7 was been found in some Google Play documentation related to electronics manufacturer Quanta, who also happen to provide a 3G/4G LTE wireless module to Verizon. The module’s function is to add wireless connectivity to hardware which doesn’t have it as standard. The word ellipsis describes a sign (usually a “…”) where words have been omitted from a written sentence, which are usually mentally added in by the reader. Put all this together and it sounds like Verizon’s Ellipsis 7 may come without wireless as standard, but with the chance to upgrade by purchasing a 3G or more likely, a 4G module in the future.

It wouldn’t be the first example if so, as Alcatel offers the same thing on its One Touch Evo 7 HD tablet. We could be way off course with our speculation, but it shouldn’t be long until we find out for sure.

The Galaxy A56 may get one of the S24 Ultra’s top features
A person using the Samsung Galaxy A55.

Samsung may be ready to change one of the long-standing negatives about its otherwise desirable Galaxy A5x series phones — the charging speed. For the Galaxy A55’s replacement, currently expected to be called the Galaxy A56, Samsung may introduce 45-watt charging speeds, a big increase over the current 25W charging, according to a report originating in China.

The source is an official-looking certificate from the Chinese government’s Quality Certification Centre (CQC) which is responsible for ensuring devices sold in China meet the required standards. The phone is listed as the SM-A5660, and seeing as the Galaxy A55’s model number is the SM-A556, it’s not much of a stretch to assume we’re looking at details of the unreleased Galaxy A56. Apparently, the phone’s maximum 10V/4.5A system equates to a 45W charging speed.

I used a Wear OS smartwatch for the first time, and I love it
Someone wearing an Apple Watch Ultra and Pixel Watch 3 on different wrists.

Ever since the original Apple Watch, smartwatches as a whole have really taken off. Though Apple largely dominates the market, there are still plenty of non-Apple smartwatches to choose from.

I’ve been solely an Apple Watch user for the past decade, but I’ve been trying out a Google Pixel Watch 3 for the past couple of weeks. And, honestly, I kind of love it.
