The Crash Bandicoot franchise will be migrating to the Nintendo Wii with “Crash of the Titans,” the newest Crash Bandicoot title announced by Sierra Entertainment on Friday. Keeping with the series’ legacy of cross-platform compatibility, the game will also be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and mobile phones.
In his latest title, Crash will have to defeat the plot of his arch nemeses Neo and Nina Cortex to mutate local creatures. Some new game play elements have been introduced to help crash along the way, such as his new ability to “hijack” enemies and control their action. Fifteen creatures will be available for Crash to control, and he’ll be able to use their special attacks to help him, like throwing toxic stink bombs, calling lightning down from the sky, firing laser beams, and impaling enemies with a scorpion tail.
Crash of the Titans will also introduce a new combat system that will allow Crash to perform new moves like flying kicks. Players will also be able to unlock power-up skills and learn combo moves. In addition to his new fighting skills, Crash will also be able to move around his environment in new ways, like running up walls, swinging on ropes, and flipping off springboards.
Cooperative play will also be available. At any time, an additional player can grab a controller and join the game as Carbon Crash, and to mix things up a little more, both players will be able to hijack each other’s characters at any moment.
Crash of the Titans is expected out some time near October 2007.
