Fujitsu has taken the wraps off its new low-cost LifeBook V1010 notebook computers, offering a choice of processors along with a 15.4-inch displays, ExpressCard slot, and a spill-resistant keyboard at prices that won’t put a tremendous strain on customers’ wallets (or credit cards).
"The Fujitsu LifeBook V Series expands the company’s reach into price-conscious markets, which place equally high priority on reliability and price," said Fujitsu’s senior director of mobile product marketing, Paul Moore, in a statement. "The high-performance LifeBook V1010 notebook offers excellent value, delivering all the computing power and features these markets need with the quality Fujitsu is known for, and at a price they have been longing for."
(And the prepositions they’ve been ending with? Never mind, moving on….)
The V1010 features a 15.4-inch 1,280 by 800 pixel LCD display and is available with either a 1.86 GHz Pentium Dual Core T2130 CPU or a 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 CPU. The units ship with either 1 or 2 GB of RAM (Fujitsu isn’t clear whether 2 GB is the most the unit can handle), 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, three USB 2.0 ports, unspecified Ethernet, an ExpressCard slot, and analog RGB and Mini D-sub video output. The V1010s also offer headphone/audio out, mic/audio in, and a dual-layer multiformat DVD writer. Fujitsu is offering the V1010s with either Windows Vista Business or Windows XP/SP2; the company says the V1010s should get about 2.25 hours of use off a single battery charge.
The V1010s are available now at prices starting at $799 with the Pentium Dual Core processor, while the Intel Core 2 Duo system with 2 GB of RAM and Windows Vista Business starts at $899.
