As if Nintendo’s week hasn’t been horrible enough, the latest in the ongoing saga of the company’s flailing Wii U console comes as confirmation that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has cancelled plans to release the add-on campaign content on Nintendo’s system, although it will still be coming to other platforms. Word first surfaced in an alleged Nintendo support email shared by GoNintendo, but confirmation came later in the form of a statement given to VG247.

“Based on demand for DLC content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming all-new story campaign for Wii U,” the statement read. In order for there to be a demand for the DLC, there needs to be a console install base. After more than a year on shelves, Nintendo’s only managed to sell roughly 3 million Wii Us. This is but a minor inconvenience as Nintendo goes into damage control following a dismal financial performance in 2013.

The email posted by GoNintendo says basically the same thing, though it adds that the cost of the $19.99 Season Pass will be refunded to the player that shared the email. It seems that even though there’s also been some DLC released as part of the Season Pass, any Wii U owner affected by the cancellation will be getting a full refund. If you’re an Arkham Origins Season Pass-owning player on Wii U and you’ve had a different experience, let us know.

Why you should buy the Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition
The Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition is a refresh of the popular video game console. Released in November 2023, it's a slimmer version of the device that was originally released three years prior, while also adding extra storage -- bumping up to 1TB from 825GB. You'll be able to install more titles, which is particularly important in the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition as it doesn't come with a disc drive. You can eventually buy the PS5 Digital Edition Disc Drive for an additional $80, but for those who want to avoid the clutter of physical discs, going purely digital would sound like a great idea.
