The iPhone may have launched nearly a year ago, but accessory manufacturers are still playing catch-up in developing accessories specifically tailored to its functionality. On Tuesday, Brookstone launched what it claims is the only clock radio dock for the iPhone that still allows it to work as a phone through its iHome brand.
According to Brookstone, the iP99 iPhone clock radio can still receive calls while docked because engineers eliminated the shielding that normally interferes with cell signals. It also has a specialized adapter to accommodate for both the iPhone and all versions of the iPod, allowing it to dock, charge and play from every one of Apple’s audio players.
The dock includes a blue LCD display, 10-watt Reson8 speakers, an AM/FM radio, alarm function with a gradually increasing volume option, and a remote control.
The iP99 will go on sale on June 1 for $149.95, but customers can preorder it now through iHome.
