PS3 Outsells Xbox 360 In Europe

PS3 Outsells Xbox 360 In EuropeSony is claiming victory – at least in Europe. There, with five million PS3 consoles sold – the cheapest goingfor $600 – it’s outsold its rival, the Xbox 360.   Speaking at a European Playstation event, Sony’s David Reeves claimed,   "Wehave been consistently outselling our closest competitor since October 2007, even with the latest price point," a reference to Microsoft lowering theprice of its console in March. He also noted that the Xbox 360 had been rolled out 16 months before the PS3.   Of course, what he didn’t mention, and didn’t have to, really, is that, when it comes to consoles, the Wii is far ahead of them both.   Reeves had other encouraging figures, too, saying that 48 million PS2s had been sold across thecontinent, along with 12 million handheld PSPs.   All this comes after a tough first year for the PS3, with games that didn’t impress and a number of out-of-stock problems for thosewanting to buy the unit. Analysts have predicted that the PS3 could overtake the Xbox 360 in America – but it’ll take two or three years.

3 new PS Plus games you should play this weekend (December 6-8)
It Takes Two's main characters ride frog taxis.

This is a good week to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus. Three new PS Plus Essential games just became available, one of which should be a must-play for subscribers this weekend. And with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered poised to launch next week, PS Plus Premium subscribers can prepare for it by playing the two other Legacy of Kain games that are new additions to PS Plus Premium's Classic Catalog this weekend.
It Takes Two
It Takes Two – Official Gameplay Trailer

Josef Fares' Hazelight Studios is known for making story-driven co-op games that thematically lean into the fact that they need to be played with someone else. The studio's latest game is It Takes Two, a 3D platformer that follows a married couple with relationship problems who get trapped inside dolls' bodies. Their journey to repair their relationship is equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and engaging as both a story-driven game and co-op experience. It Takes Two won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021 for a reason, so you should check it out if you haven't already. Playing It Takes Two will also hype you up for whatever Fares is making next.

3 new Xbox Game Pass games to play this weekend (December 6-8)
Crash Bandicoot in Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled.

Microsoft outlined the last batch of games coming to Xbox Game Pass this year in a post earlier this week, and many of those titles got added to the service later in the week. One surprising trend in this final Game Pass game batch of 2024 is that three great racing games came to different subscription service tiers. Running (or I guess driving) the gamut from extremely cartoonish to overtly simulation-focused, fans of racing games have many new options to choose from this weekend on Xbox Game Pass.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Reveal Trailer

In the wake of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy's success, Activision had its studio Beenox remake Crash Team Racing for modern gaming platforms. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is undeniably the king when it comes to the best cartoon kart racers available nowadays, but Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is the closest any game has come to taking that crown. The wacky world and characters of Crash Bandicoot are a perfect fit for a Kart Racer, and this game even features some crossover content featuring Spyro the Dragon and extras from Crash Team Racing games other than the PS1 original. Its adventure mode also gives it a meatier single-player offering than most racing games, so there's a lot for Game Pass subscribers to sink their teeth into here.

Download any of these, and that discount you got a PS Plus subscription with will start to feel like a steal.
Dying Light 2

Techland's Dying Light titles are some of the best zombie video games out there. They not only feature some extremely satisfying and brutal combat, but they also have fun open worlds to explore thanks to an intricate parkour system. Dying Light 2: Stay Human goes bigger, giving players more gameplay options, like a paraglider for traversal and the power to change the world and story with certain choices. While we're nearly a month past Halloween at this point, this zombie game is still well worth your time.
