Detailed by the San Francisco Chronicle, a hotel located within the Nob Hill area of the California city has started a new promotion that offers a free drink to anyone that enters the bar wearing Google Glass. The free cocktail can be picked up at the bar in the lobby of the Stanford Court hotel, but only after the Google Glass user snaps a picture of the hotel or drink with Glass and posts it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram along with a hashtag. This promotion started not long after a female tech blogger in another San Francisco bar was attacked for wearing Google Glass and ended up being robbed of her possessions.

In a statement released about the new promotion, a spokesperson for the Stanford Court hotel said “The complimentary drink is geared toward the local tech crowd who own a pair, and might feel like an outcast or nuisance due to the recent string of negative press. We want them to feel at home.” While the promotion has only attracted a small number of Google Glass users, it’s likely that more owners of the advanced glasses will visit the bar if it’s perceived as being friendly to the new technology.

The hotel is also considering setting up a Google Glass package for guests that includes access to Glass during an overnight stay at the hotel. Interested guests could check out the glasses and wander around the city a bit to play with the technology. In addition, the hotel is upgrading other technology offerings for guests that include iPads and iMacs on hand to use. The bar is also going to get a bit of a tech redesign, specifically featuring tech in the decor of the bar and hotel.
