Harmonix has announced the track lineup for the forthcoming Rock Band 2, and it’s a biggie. For headbangers there will be “Let There Be Rock” from AC/DC and – the biggest scoop, “Shackler’s Revenge” by Guns N’Roses, a track from the long awaited Chinese Democracy album.

The other big names include Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, the Grateful Dead and the Who, a total of 84 tracks, with more than 500 promised by the end of the year, according to the Gamespot blog.

A new patent suggests the Nintendo Switch 2 might upscale games to 4K
Two players play Nintendo Switch.

Although the Nintendo Switch is undeniably a success, the console has its fair share of critics. The graphical prowess of Nintendo's hybrid handheld couldn't really compete with that of the Xbox or PlayStation, but a new patent suggests the Nintendo Switch 2 might not have that problem. This patent shows a system that could upscale resolution to as high as 4K -- without native 4K textures.

The technology is similar to existing tools, like Nvidia's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) or AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). In theory, Nintendo's patent would make it possible to keep game sizes smaller while still achieving gorgeous scenery and gameplay. For example, a 1080p game might need 25GB of storage, while a 4K game might need 75GB. A Nintendo Switch cartridge can only store up to 32GB of data, so 4K is out -- unless it's artificially scaled up, according to analyst Laura Kate Dale.

Our most anticipated video games of 2025: GTA 6, Metroid Prime 4, and more
Samus Aran poses in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

On a personal note, 2024 was one of my favorite years for video games in recent memory. It may not have been filled with giant franchise sequels, but it was loaded with surprises that made for an eclectic year. If all goes according to plan, that's going to change in 2025. And that's something I didn't even realize until I sat down to write this list of Digital Trends' most anticipated games of 2025.

While only a handful of big games have release dates currently, publishers have some major releases slated to release at some point in 2025. That's, of course, headlined by Grand Theft Auto 6, but there's so much beyond that (so long as delays don't derail plans). And this is all before factoring in the Nintendo Switch 2's impending launch, which will undoubtedly fill the year with some top-tier games that are currently a deep secret. It's difficult to narrow a "most anticipated" list down to just 10 games this year, but I've done my best here. These are the games that should be on your radar in 2025 -- at minimum!
Grand Theft Auto 6
