Kodak has debuted its EasyShare Z1485 IS Zoom digital camera, aiming to put high resolution and optical image stabilization into a consumer-friendly offering—although it remains to be seen if color options will make the comparatively boxy unit appeal to fashion-conscious photographers.
The EasyShare Z1485 IS Zoom boasts a 14.2 megapixel resolution, a 2.5-inch LCD viewfinder display, 32 MB of internal memory (with SD/SDHC card support for storage), and a Smart Capture feature that automatically adjusts the camera’s settings for good shots in a variety of environments with intelligent scene selection, focus and exposure ontrol, and image processing. The camera also includes a high ISO mode that lets the camera take low-light pictures all the way down to ISO 6400 (at 3.1 megapixels), along with a 5× optical zoom and optical image stabilization for blur-free shots. The camera also integrates face detection technology, and offer three battery options (AA, CRV3, and Li-Ion rechargeables) for flexibility. The camera will also shoot QuickTime and MPEG-4 video at up to 30 fps at 1,280 by 720 resolution.
Teh Z1485 is available now in black, blue, and pink for a suggested price of $299.95, and is compatible with a wide range of Kodak accessories like the EasyShare HDTV dock for putting images and video up on a high-definition television set. We just don’t know if kids today will find the bulky, psuedo-DSLR look “hip” or not.
