In celebration of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes shipping 1 million copies, Konami and Kojima are going to release the previously platform-exclusive content to all systems. On May 1, all owners of the game will be able to download and play the missions Déjà vu and Jamais Vu for free.
The Déjà vu mission was originally released on PlayStation platforms only, and is referred to as a “throwback” mission. The content allows users to play as the pixilated Solid Snake from the PSone title, Metal Gear Solid, and introduces missions taken from that game. Success comes through recreating key scenes from the original MGS, and players are rewarded with flashbacks.
The second piece of content, Jamais Vu, was released as an Xbox platform exclusive, and relates to the second video game Hideo Kojima wrote and directed, Snatcher. The missions introduce “bioroids” that invade Camp Omega and kill anything they come in to contact with. Snake is replaced in this mission by the cyborg ninja Raiden, who comes packing heavy weapons rather than his sword.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is available both on physical media, and as a digital download. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions cost $29.99, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version run $19.99.
