The fact that wearable technology is finally starting to take off certainly hasn’t been lost on Amazon. The online retail giant just took the wraps off its dedicated Wearable Technology store. You can expect to find fitness trackers, wearable cameras, smart watches, and other wearable devices from established brands like Samsung, Jawbone, and GoPro.
“Wearable technology is an exciting category with rapid innovation and our customers are increasingly coming to Amazon to shop and learn about these devices,” explained John Nemeth, Director of Wireless and Mobile Electronics at Amazon.
Amazon is also showcasing devices like the Misfit Shine and is offering an exclusive chance to pre-order the Misfit Bloom necklace, which falls into the smart jewelry category. There will clearly be space for emerging brands like Misfit and Basis, not to mention new players like Narrative and Bionym.
“We’re thrilled to bring our customers a store with the largest selection and great prices that helps eliminate the guesswork when deciding which wearable devices best fit their needs—whether that is tracking activity, staying connected through smart watches or capturing their next adventure with wearable cameras.” said John Nemeth.
A “Learning Center” is set to help customers eliminate the guesswork with video content, buying guides, and comparisons. There’s also an “Editor’s Corner” which appears to pull in tech press content.
This emerging category is growing fast and a dedicated store on Amazon is a sure sign that it’s coming of age.
