Move over, James Bond. There’s another British super-spy headed to the big screen.
Okay, so it might be a little presumptuous to assume the teenage lead in Kingsman: The Secret Service will measure up with Hollywood’s greatest secret agent, but the first footage from the upcoming film about a street kid who’s recruited by an international spy organization certainly looks pretty.
Directed by Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, Kingsman is based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ critically praised 2012 comic book series The Secret Service, and boasts an all-star cast that includes Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Mark Strong, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film was co-written by Vaughn and his frequent collaborator, Jane Goldman.
In the trailer, we get our first introduction to both the super-secret agency and the spy played by Firth who recruits Gary Unwin (played by Taron Egerton) against the better judgment of, well… pretty much everyone else in the agency. The trailer also provides a peek at the intense training program that Gary must compete in if he wants to forge a new life within the organization.
Kingsman: The Secret Service hits theaters October 24.
